    X01 crank torque?

I bought an Absolute Black oval direct drive chain ring to replace the stock eagle 30T. Not having done work on cranksets before I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUoPXxEn93g . The mech uses a 8mm hex and without a great deal of effort loosens the bolt (maybe it was pre-released). When I went to do it I couldn't break the bolt loose until I got someone else to put their maximum strength/weight bracing the pedals/crank while I cranked on it with a 8mm hex pedal wrench. I finally broke loose under max effort by both of us.

Do cranks tighten up with use or was this one over torqued? I found spec's at 54 Nm (478 in-lbs), but will need to get my large torque wrench back from my son before known values.

54 Nm is really tight, unless they're under-torqued they're always hard to loosen.

Specs are printed on the crank bolt cap.

Def go with the spec. Grease the threads and splines first.
    Do the math.

It was probably pre-loosened for the demo video.
