New question here. Upgrading Drive Train to XT

    Hey everyone,

I'm currently riding a Giant Anthem '12 29er with Sram X5/X7 components. My rear derailluer, cassette and chain got all messed up recently. I was planning on upgrading to the XT component group. I've been researching about the dyna-sys tech, I was wondering if I need to upgrade the Sram x5 crank/front derailleur to make it work or can I keep them? I know that I have to upgrade the shifters in order to use the XT shadow rear derailleur.

Let me know what you all think!
    Thanks!

Sram front derailers work well with a shimano shifter and vice versa. The same is not true for rear derailers.

    Hope this helps.

Yes. I have an Sram crank with X7 front derailer, XT rear derailer and both Shimano shifters. Works fine.
