Trouble Removing Race Face AEfect cinch cranks

I removed the crank bolt and tried banging on the drive side arm to get it out but it won't budge. Do I just need to use more force or am I missing something?

cinch system uses self-extracting crank bolt. it is 8mm. loosen it and the crank comes off. but it requires the 16mm cap to be installed first. If you removed it, then the 8mm will back out, but not pull the crank arm off.

With that said, reading up on the new AEffect cranks, they only use the CINCH interchangeable spider. NOT the whole CINCH system (which includes the spindle). RaceFace's website says these cranks use their EXI spindle interface.

    Looking at the install instructions

If looks like this EXI system would require the use of a crank puller to remove.

Looks like specifically, you need an ISIS compatible crank puller.

I believe you need a shimano octalink or FSA isis drive style crank puller. Run to the lbs and they'll have it

Just looked at the Aeffect cranks that came on my 2016 Transition, and there's definitely no self-extracting cap. Looks like it's time to order an extractor...

Glad I found this thread... for the life of me, no amount of swearing and rubber mallet were enough to get the Aeffect crank arm off.... Now I realize I need a puller.

Possibly overtightened. Did you torque to spec via a torque wrench?

You likely put the drive side bushing in backwards before torquing it.
