Trek Top Fuel 8 chain ring swapout

I am thinking of buying a topfuel 8 with the Shimano double chain ring.

I have done the calculations on the gearing and I am confused as to why they have made the lower gears so low in comparison to the 1x11 on the topfuel 9.
    Gearing
My hard tail 10x3 High 3.82 Low .67
    TopFuel 8 10x2 High 3.27 Low .61
    TopFuel 9 11x1 High 3.2 Low .76

I only ever get as low as 2nd which is .75 but I use my top 3 gears a fair bit. With my style of riding I would prefer to have taller gears so question

Considering this bike has the Boost rear hub fitted will any of the larger sets of chain rings 38/24 or 40/28 fit the shimano M627 crank?

Is your hardtail by chance a 26" wheel? That makes a pretty big difference in effective gearing. That's why gear-inches is a much better number to use when comparing gearing between bikes. The top gear on the stock TF8 is good for 25.3 mph pedaling at 90 rpm. What kind of riding are you doing that requires a higher gear than that?
