    SRAM X9 10 spd rear der

    ~'12/'13 Type ll med cage can they work with a 40t cassette on a 2x10 setup?

    Thanks. Yeah I was thinking that. I have 2 new 38/24t front rings (from switching to 1x on another build) and don't 'need' to get a der. I was just looking to put my 40t cassette on for a little more granny later on during the long rides I do with this bike. I'll have to see if I can just get a 22t small ring which will give same end result. Not sure the fr der can handle the 16t jump is all.

    you definitely need a long cage. the mid cage is nowhere near enough chain wrap capacity.
