    Sram x7 won't engage, front

Hello all, well took my bike out today in this nice 74 ga weather, when shifting from the big dog to the little cog all is fine. When switching from small cog too big cog it hangs up and just starts slipping and hitting the guard and getting stuck. It's a 2x10 of that matters.

It's out of adjustment. If you don't know how to adjust your own derailleurs it's pretty easy, and a skill every rider should have, unless you're just a drop it off at the LBS kind of guy (which is also a valid way to go, it helps them stay in business). If you want to learn, the best way is probably to search for front derailleur adjustment on youtube and watch a couple videos.

I would start with the barrel adjustment on the shifter, sounds like it is not pulling enough cable to engage the shift ramps fully.

Can be done while riding. Get some speed and then shift it from the bottom to the top where it is having the problem. When it starts to slip/half shift, keep pedaling and turn the adjuster on the shifter to the left, towards you in this case, slowly. This hopefully will force it to shift up to the top ring for you. What you are doing is applying more cable pull in very small amounts with the adjuster. If it does shift up to the large ring, then try shifting up and down the front rings as you normally would to see if that has corrected the problem.

If you are all the way extended on the barrel adjuster already, then you will need to look at a full adjustment of the cable for the derailleur.

Agree with everything above. Learning to adjust your own deraillers is worth the effort.

That said, it just sounds like you need to tighten the shifter cable a little bit. Turn the barrel adjuster counterclockwise, 1/4 turn at a time till the derailer/chain engages the large ring properly. Don't overdo it, it shouldn't take much.
