SRAM GX 1400 vs Race Face Aeffect 1x crankset

Trying to decide between these two cranks for new build. Anyone have an opinion between these? Best deal I can find is 150ish for either set.

They're pretty similar. I just got the SRAM a couple of weeks ago, and could have gone either way.
The SRAM is maybe a bit lighter based on the specs, and the GXP bottom bracket is inexpensive, but I really just preferred the plainer look.
Both available in 170 or 175mm. The SRAM uses 3 Torx screws to hold the ring(don't know the technical name for it) that secures a direct mount chainring, while the RF uses the Cinch ring, which I believe works with an ISIS drive.
I didn't really read up on the Aeffect, but don't know that there is any practical difference between them.

It's going to be a wash in weight and performance between the two. It'll come down to price and whichever one you like better.

I have the XX1 crank, and the three torx bolt on the SRAM spider is just waiting to be stripped. Make sure you use a sharp Torx and that it's all the way in the bolt. If you plan on switching rings often...maybe the Cinch will be a better setup.

My new bike came with Aeffect cranks as OE. Stock ring was a DM 32t, but swapped it for a 30t Wolftooth DM ring. Changing the ring was easy thanks to the Cinch design. My other bike has carbon SRAM 1x cranks, and to be honest, I can't detect any difference in stiffness.

I have the Next SL and the Cinch system is great. Very easy to remove cranks and change rings.
I got some bad ideas in my head.

Beware that 170mm aeffect are re-drilled 175mm, so no added clearance.
Beside this they are nice and looks durable with steel axle and bolt (already stripped a RF turbine alloy bolt once).

Yup... beware of those blasted torx... I just wrecked a GX crankset... stripped the head on one and basically destroyed the bolt... I miiiiiight be able to salvage them by getting the bolt drilled out but i bet the threads are f***ed.

I'm gonna be shopping a Race Face in the coming days...

Any idea if I can use a Race Face chainring on this crankset that came on my Stumpy 6fattie - Custom SRAM GX-1000, PF30 spindle, 28T, direct mount? I'm wanting to put a 26T on.

No sram and race face direct mount rings are not interchangeable.

I see that there is a SRAM Race Face chainring (as opposed to the Cinch ones)- not sure if it works with my GX cranks though
