SRAM Eagle chain with xx1 (non-eagle) chainring.

I've found only one person that has this setup with no problems, though over a relatively short time frame. SRAM makes clear that the new eagle system isn't compatible with the X-SYNC chainring.

Anyone have any direct info on why SRAM says they are incompatible? Would the chain wear quicker? How about the cassette? Would the x-sync chainring reek havoc on the chain and thus muck up the other bits of the drivetrain?

Yep. The aluminum chainring will destroy the steel chain, which will then magically transfer abnormal wear to the (mostly) steel cassette. Then the monster under your bed will have it's way with you in the middle of the night... And, BAM! Herpes! Don't get herpes. Buy the eagle cranks.

I run Eagle on a couple of bikes with Next SL 11 spd chainrings with zero issues and on another bike with an XT 11spd chainring with no issues.

    Much thanks!!

I'm pretty stoked as I just picked up the mini groupo. I'm popping it on my Specialized SWorks Stumpy when it arrives next week.

By chance you ever try running the aforementioned with an 11 speed SRAM chain? Or did you go straight to Eagle chain?
