    S-Works crank sets, need help

I hope some one can help me...I have a 2010 Specialized S-Works Epic. The treads on the drive side crank arm are shot and I need to replace the crank set, I want to get a used one but don't know which sets are compatible. I have been looking at the Truvativ xx on ebay but not sure if it will work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks: jackcoul

Step #1 is to determine the BB shell specs of your frame. Either find out via the manufacturer / your dealer or try figure out here.

In the latter case, it would help if you could provide the following details:
    (a) BB shell width (excluding any cups, if any) in mm
    (b) BB shell inner bore diameter (as least approximately as I know it might be difficult with cranks/BB mounted) in mm
    (c) Can you spot any BB cups? If so, which outer diameter do these have?
    (d) What type of crank set is the one you'd like to replace (pls specify brand/model - or picture)?
    (e) Is your frame made of carbon or aluminium?

(I am aware there are redundancies in the questionnaire, but that's in order to arrive at a clear conclusion.)

Once the BB shell specs are clarified, it 'll be pretty easy to determine which crank set specs would fit best as a 2nd step (for a knowledgable person).

I have S-Works cranks on two bikes and they are great, very stiff and super light weight. I would look for a used set of MTB S-Works cranks, they are not hard to find used. These are lighter than RaceFace Next SL carbon cranks and will be considerably lighter than Truv XX.
The S-W road cranks will not fit your epic.

The BB shell with is 84.5
    inner bore is 42
    no cups
I want to replace a Specialized S-Works Epic
    Carbon frame
    Thanks Markus

    Also thanks xc71,
do know if all the S-Works cranks are the same...Stumpjumper, Epic etc. ?
This is my back up bike so I will keep looking for some used s-works cranks.

    Really appreciate the help

Cheers Jackcoul, sorry, did you mean to say "don't know"
All MTB S-Works cranks have a spindle length of 90.7mm. The road version is something like 74mm.

No I meant to say "do you know". My bottom bracket shell is 84.5mm. Will the 90.7mm spindle work on mime with spacers?

So it seems we're talking about the 'Alloy' version of the many various specs Specialized are calling "OSBB". (I guess there is a threadless alloy sleeve bonded into your carbon frame with BB30 type ball bearings directly pressed into that sleeve.)

I am not an expert with S-Works crank sets so I pass on that question (see chart linked below). However, due to the BB shell width of your frame any short spindle (30 mm spindle) crank sets (usually labelled "BB30") are not compatible (including any S-Works road crank set even if one could replace the spider).

Shimano Hollowtech crank sets and the GXP(!) versions of SRAM crank sets should work with a new bottom bracket (or adaptors).

Yes, that will work. If you measure your current S-Works cranks, they should measure 90.7mm
