    replacement Shimano jockey wheels

My Deore LX jockey wheels are badly worn. I am having difficulty finding a replacement for my model. Any recommendations?

Give more info like the model number.

There's been several LX models that have been made in the last 25 years, parts for one model mightn't fit another model.

Good idea. My LX derailleur is ten years old and was OEM when I bought the bike. I have no documentation. Is the part number somewhere on the derailleur?

Check the inboard face of the cage.

The pivots do wear out, so also compare this derailleur against a new one before you spend money. I don't like waste, but 9-speed derailleurs are pretty inexpensive and I also don't like throwing time and money at tuning something if it's legitimately worn out.

You could also just get your shop to handle it. They may even have appropriate jockey wheels in a drawer. My six year old Deore rear derailleur has some Alivio wheels on it now, but everything's working fine together.

Yes, it will be stamped somewhere like the following photo.

Just FYI, Shimano's jockey wheels tend to be priced a bit easier on the wallet than SRAM's, but as mentioned above, you'd likely be better off just upgrading to a newer XT. Places like JensonUSA and others have had them in the $30-35 dollar range. Probably only a third more than the cost of the jockeys!

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I read the part number and my current rear Deore derailleur is an RD-M570. After searching around for a while for spare part I elected to buy a whole new Deore RD-M591 from Jensen for $32.99 with free shipping.
