    Off center bottom bracket

Hello, this may be a very simple question but I can not figure out why my shimano un 26 bottom bracket is not centered. I first noticed that my front derailleur would not properly shift into the smallest ring because it was maxed out. I then noticed that my drive side crank was about a quarter inch closer to the chainstay than the other side. This leads me to believe the bottom bracket is off center but I don't know what the fix is. Any help would be great thanks.

shimano makes offset bb's, I have one that pushes the chainline out to 52 or 53 mm. I found it in a bin at the local co-op and used it on a janky ss conversion to get a straight chainline. I have to admit having the drive side shorter sounds weird, like its a 68/73 in a 83 shell or sumthin'

Maybe a 73 mm BB in a 68 mm shell?

Good question. I am a noob. I assumed it was but I have no idea. I just figured since the derailleur also wasn't working it must be the bb.

So what spacers do they fit in between the bb and drive side crank or are they spacers that move the bb.
    Thanks for the help.
