    Help with Raleigh Lahar Crankset

Hey all, please pardon my potentially dumb question but I've done a fair bit of searching to no avail so I figured I'd ask. I have a 2003 model year Raleigh Lahar that I'm looking to convert to a 9 to 1. Taking a look at the crankset I'm a little confused on how I'm supposed to take it apart. It does not have any pinch bolts, but rather one large locking allen key bolt. And I was not able to find a manual for the Shimano Deore FC-M572 crankset anyway.

I'm able to get that bolt off but I'm confused what to do from there. Do I just try to get the crank arm off with a rubber mallet? Because it does not look like that sucker is going to come off.

And finally is this a conversion that I'm able to do with this setup? I've included some pictures below to look at. Are there any tools, especially for the BB that I should purchase?

You'll need a crank puller that works with splined octilink bb's.

Got it! Thanks a bunch! As far as a chainring, will any 32 tooth chainring work? I'm assuming they're all the same?

You will need at least a single speed chainring and a narrow wide chainring would be the best.
Assuming your crank has a BCD of 104 then any chainring for the BCD will work.
If you are going 32T, consider a 30T chainring - gives you that extra bit for hills and I find I use more of the cassette, spread the wear over more cogs.
