eagle drivetrain making weird ticking sound

My xo1 eagle drivetrain has been just about perfect since I got it. It shifts great every time, but lately it has been making this kind of odd ticking or clicking sound while pedaling under load. I can usually hear it most noticeably while climbing uphill (likely because the trail noise is at a minimum) but it only happens under power, I can't really replicate it while pedaling around the neighborhood.

Here are a few other things I noticed:

-It happens regardless if I am standing or sitting in the saddle

-I can't replicate it by pulling on the handlebars, bouncing the suspension. Only when pedaling under load.

-I removed/greased the pedals a couple times already and that did not help

-The deraileur hanger is straight, I had a local shop double check that too

-I replaced the shift cable and housing as it was probably about due anyways...didn't really make a difference in the sound

The only thing I can think of that I recently changed/altered on the bike is the b-gap adjustment. Someone told me recently it should be set in sag but last year I originally set it not in sag at all, so the other day I made a small adjustment to the b-gap while in sag...I had to decrease the b-gap by maybe only a few mm to get it lined up in sag. The sound seemed to start after I did this but I can't remember for sure now. Just a thought.

I am not really sure what else to check. Its kind of a hard noise to describe, it almost sounds like how the chain will make a clicking sound when it is not lined up correctly and is trying to jump up a gear, but the sound only happens randomly like there is just one link doing that (but that said, there is no real rhythm to when it happens...its not one particular section of chain or anything).

This doesn't have any impact on the shifting, the bike shifts perfect still through every gear and under load, so I probably shouldn't care that much about it but it has been driving me NUTS when normally I appreciate the peace and quiet while climbing!

I have a new unused GX eagle chain that I might just throw on there and see if that resolves it.

I am not the most skilled home mechanic so I would appreciate any thoughts or insight you can share!

    Here are my two cents.
I think it's the chainring or the BB.
I had those ticking sounds on a few different drivtrains.
It can be a loose chainring, or the crankset with too much or less preload, or the wear on the bb itself.

Re-adjust the b-screw to eliminate an easy possible cause.

Had the same noise. Pull the cassette off and grease the splines and the threads on the XD driver
