Eagle 12 Speed - What hubs??

    Hi

I'm building up a hardtail and boy this has been an experience for me so far to say the least.

I recently got a good deal on an Eagle NX 1x12 11-50T groupset. The tyres i'm going to be running are 2.8; so was looking at an optimal rim width of 40mm.

All of that aside, I cant find any wheelsets that offer 40mm rim width with hubs that are compatible for a 12 speed cassette?

Even looking at hubs by themselves - they seem to only go up to 11 speed?

    Any help appreciated!

Afaik, any 11spd compatible hub with HG freehub body should work.

You can fit an 11spd or 12spd MTB cassette that uses the Shimano HG standard on any 8-9-10spd HG freehub body.

So unless you're looking at 7spd hubs pretty much anything should work.

So does this have a "shimano HG freehub body"?

Yes, unless you go with the XD option.

Thru axle design with 8-10 speed cassette and XD drivetrain options

    XD left, HG right.

    Check the official spec sheet:

    https://www.sram.com/sram/mountain/p...eagle-cassette

    • Compatible with 8-, 9- and 10-speed splined driver bodies.

Splined = HG. Most people just call it Shimano, but SRAM and a lot of other manufacturers use it too, but Shimano came up with it in the first place.

HollyBoni is right. HG freehubs have the splines throughout the body, while XD only have it at the bottom.

GX and above use a Sram specific XD driver rear hub.
NX 12 speed goes on a splined Shimano compatible hub. Boost 148 most likely depending on your frame.
Although frames meant for older hub standards with splined 8,9,10 Sram or Shimano driver bodies will work. Most of those frames won't take a 2.8 tire on a 40mm inner width rim unless you measure for it.

I think it's been said, but just to be clear, you can use a 12 speed 11-50 cassette (splined freehub) or 10-50 cassette (XD freehub) with any Eagle group. Sram's 11-50 cassette is branded as NX. There are other brands of cassettes that will also work.
    What, me worry?
