di2 with x01-- long cage or short?

I know i read somewhere on here that someone put a sram cassette with thier Di2... But darn if i can find who it was... Im pretty sure it will work fine..

Question-- do i need to go long cage or do you think the med cage will work with a 2*11 di2 setup...

pretty sure if you are going 2x you will need the greater gear capacity of the long cage. I have not searched on the shimnano site to get their gear calculator - I would do that and cross reference with your gearing you intend to use.

I think you would be pushing it using either with you running 2x11. I don't think it would cope with the 10-42 cassette range and a double up front unless you were very careful what gears you were in.

thats the beauty of di2 - you program it so it cant go in those bad combos!

plus... shimano just came out with a 11x42*11 and officially said it works with di2.. So id imagine with the right derailleur all should be happy... Plus what 006 said-- id just program it to never go big big or small small .. Plus id imagine di2 is allready programmed not to go bb or ss...

The 11-42 is only quoted as working with 1x11 in the tech documents.

Hmmm ill have to go back and read that again.... But even if so-- id actually think a 2x system would be even less stress on the drive train... For the reason that the system will jump to the smaller (left side) ring -- hence biasing the chain over vs a normal 1x system that the chain is pulled over to the extreme side....
