    Deore M6000 derailleur

I currently have a 11-42 cassette but want to go to 11-46. Yesterday I worked on a Dartmoor which had an 11-50 with an SLX derailleur, which is pretty much exact to my m6000, by looking at the two( pulley wheel placement etc.
My question is, can I get away without buying the Wolftooth extender or do I need it? I'm thinking not, but just want to see if anyone has tried this.

Did the SLX, I'm guessing the M7000, had the extender?

I'm not sure anyone has tried an 11/46 on a Deore M6000 GS from my searching recently. With that said, the cage is the EXACT same part number as the SLX M7000, it's in the tech docs on SI.Shimano.com. The parallelogram is different between Deore/SLX but I'd give it a go stock first. The worst that would happen is you need a Goatlink. I do have my wife's fatty set up with the Sunrace 11/46 10-speed and the 11-speed SLX M7000 RDR, works perfectly.
