    Chainline on xt 1 x 11

Just installed a new xt 1 x 11 drivetrain (32, 11-42). Set up went pretty well, but I'm finding that I'm a getting a fair bit of grinding in the 40 and 42. The chain really does have to get dragged over to the centre of the bike - the line is quite "diagonal." I've double checked parts, spacers, set up etc., and I can't find any mistakes on my part. To be fair, I'm only running the drivetrain in the bike stand, and the grinding isn't too much worse than when I went 1x10 with a one up 42 on my old drivetrain, but it just digs at my inner OCD... Anybody experienced the same? Will it quieten down a bit with wear? Am I overlooking something? I almost feel like removing the drive side spacer on my BB to get the chain a bit more centred...

IIRC...the 11sp cassette is a bit wider than a 10sp. If your CL is already extreme with a 10sp...it'll be that much more with the 11sp.

Can you move your chainring inboard with spacers?
I got some bad ideas in my head.

I installed another BB I had lying around, and it improved things a bit in the 40. I'm going to see how things are after the chain gets worn in a bit. But otherwise, yes, I may try experimenting with spacers, either some thin washers on the chainring bolts, or maybe move the 2.5 mm spacer on my bb to the non drive side. I guess with 11 speeds on a traditional shell is pushing the limits a bit... thanks.

Same issue here, and you seem to know pretty much what options you have. Pressfit BB on mine so no chance of playing with spacers there
