    2011 Trek Mamba 29er and a 2001 Trek 800 ST...what stock bottom brackets?

Bikepedia and other sources just tell me bottom bracket 'unspecified' for the Mamba. Anyone know what I have lurking between my cranks?? I'd like to pick up a bottom bracket removal tool, but I'm not sure which one to get.

Also have a 2001 Trek 800 ST I'm stripping to rebuild. I'd like to be able to remove and take a look at its BB as well.

Anyone know which two BB tools I'll need? I'm guessing I'll need two different ones.

I figure the Mamba's BB is a sealed unit and only maintenance I can do is grease inside the cups. I have no idea about the 800.

Oh, and the Mamba has Shimano Acera M361 and the Trek 800 a SR Suntour crankset.

You should just be able to look and see what's there. Use a flashlight.

If you see cups and lock ring looking like this you will need a pin spanner and a special wrench.

    Use these tools etc:

You will need this to remove the cranks from all of the above:

slash, thanks for your time and thoroughness..much appreciated and helpful. i actually do have a crank puller on the way and a few other tools i'd been wanting. i'd hoped to know which bracket tools i'd need for these too to combine it all in shipping, but it's more important to know what you're doing and get the right thing.

first pic is my mamba and you can see it's surely cartridge as i suspected. taking pics was a good idea..i should have done that last night. its crankset is a shimano acera, although i still don't need which specific bb i have. blowing up the pic better to see it looks like approx. 24 teeth, give or take. think i should find a shimano bb too that has about that many indents? proceed that way for the right tool?

looking at the pics from the trek 800 st, it looks like the adjustable variety with caps, bearings and spindle. you can see in the second pic it's not diamond, but square-splined. it's a suntour crankset so maybe i should be looking for a bb tool for it intended for bb's in suntour cranksets? i hope i'm asking that right. i'm a f/r derailleur, and shifter/cable guy...bb's and cranksets i've always left alone or to others, so my first foray. i'm guessing i'll need the one tool for the mamba, and a lockring spanner for the 800. am i getting warmer? actually the rusty lockring turned quite easily with a channel lock and is just resting there in the pic.
