    xt crankset yes or no

i need to lighten my bike up. its pretty heavy at 43 pounds when im only 140. so would a xt crankset lighten it much or would it even be strong enough? ive riden one before and it was awesome. but idk how well they will hold up over the hard stuff. i know they hold up great over smooth stuff. but anyone used them off of drops and stuff?

I've had a 1st gen hollowtech XT crankset for about 6 years. I haven't had a need to replace it yet. It's on my 3rd frame now.

Only thing you've got to worry about is ripping out those aluminum threads. So don't lay down a pedal on a rock...

I've got 2 sets. One that's barely seen any use, and another that I beat the hell out of riding street.

Even if you strip it, you can always get it helicoiled.
