I'm enjoying my DHX 5.0 alot. I'm sure the Avy cult (no offense) is gonna chime in here any time. I'd like to give the avy a shot but I'm not sure what they got going for them.

I ride a Manitou Swinger 4 Way with SPV. If its one thing that Manitou can actually do right, it's their rear shock. I love my Swinger. The adjustments are tweakable, rides plush, and provides a good range of sizes. I got a 9.00" with a 2.75" stroke. Provides my bike with a good ride.

SPV also works really well when you're climbing. Its a great shock. I would be willing to try the Fox DHX though. But right now, Swinger for me.

    No horror stories here.
I'm a fan of the DHX 5.0. Rode the new Giant Faith and it was amazing.
Don't know if it was the "Maestro" design or the shock but the combination was perfect.

I've used the Swinger 6-way and It was great as well.
Probably the shock I have the most experience with.

I'm actually waiting for the DHX Air.

I used to be a huge fan of the Romic, as I have owned 2 of them, and never had a problem, but I hear so many horror stories about them lately. For the past 18 months I've been running a 5th element on my Heckler, and for 7 months a 5th on my VPFree. Love those shocks to death. Very reliable, and very tuneable.

Best ever - The DHX 5.0 and the new Air (yes the air is extremely sweet) are my favorites. Very tunable. They let the wheel track the ground extremely well and the price is right.

Worst ever - Rockshox Coupe Delux. POS! That thing pucked it's guts up my back at least 5 times.

I can't stand my Swinger 6-way. It's heavy, you can't get the spring off without some sort of spring compressor (I used a huge zip tie) and it's too difficult to tune to where it feels good.

My favorite has always been the Fox Vanilla RC although I haven't tried the DHX yet....
