    What is this worth?

This is an '04 giant STP2 all stock except the addiition of avid mech. disc brakes. Bike has been riden urban about 5 times and has some small scratches on left chainstay and larger scratches on left crank arm. Paint on frame is excellent everywhere else, wheels are perfectly true fork still perfect. Any ideas what this bike might be worth? I am considering selling it since i have an imperial too.

i would say the same amount you paid for it new because of the disk brakes or maybe like $50 less than you paid

I paid $300 for the bike, but am wanting to sell it now. I want to use the money for putting my evil imperial on a diet.

Bike retails for $600 with rim brakes. Avids I believe retail for $120 per wheel but can be found on the net for like $70 per wheel.

the two worst things to invest in are bikes and cars. Even if you but it new and then 5 min later try and sell it you aren't going to get the price you payed for it. The problem is with the lower end bikes people don't wanna pay anything close to the origional cost because its not worth it.

not to mention loss of warranty etc. Getting 3/4 of the payed price is lucky, 1/2 is more typical for good condition. Those scratches wont help your effort, even if there were only '5 rides'...

no ones gonna buy a used bike if they can pick up a new one for a few more bucks
