Hehe, a buddy of mine was in Albertson's last December and the clerk talked him into buying a whole supermarket cart of that stuff for cheap. I bought 6, six packs figuring it couldn't be that bad considering I was paying a whole 50 cents a six pack. I've still got a bunch of it in my fridge

You left a woman to do a man's job. Who's weaksauce now?

Besides, I seem to remember somebody tellin' me they didn't drink anymore..............

When in Oregon, you only need to remember this:

I grew up on that **** in high school, that, 40s of Ides and country club ($1.00 for a forty!), and natty ice. That's before I realized that there are beers out there that taste good.

    mmm... beer

I'm all about Sierra Nevada Pale Ale these days.

I'm with this guy. Their Shakespeare Stout is tremendous as well. The Sierra Nevada stuff mentioned previously is o.k. but there are far better beers available in Oregon and NorCal that just don't get the press that SN does. Anderson River Brewing Company, Rogue Brewing, Deschutes Brewing, North Coast Brewing, Mad River Brewing, all have some incredible beers that are worth sending the little lady for.

As for the ladies bashing you for sending your woman for beer, they were a bit off base. You can certainly send her out for beer but you are definitely asking for trouble if you don't tell her specifically which beers you desire. You wouldn't send her to buy a car or a bike without at least telling her a model you liked, so why would you do it with a beer run?

I've got to say my favorites are Bridgeport IPA followed in a close second by Full Sail Amber Ale. As for Rogue I think they are a bit overrated. Thier beers are always to 'heavy' and have that distintive Rogue 'buttery' taste. Even their lighter beers are heavy. I still drink them but there are much better breweries in Oregon.
Now as far as the Pumkin ale goes, the Oregon Trader Brewing Company in Albany makes a seasonal brew called Spiced Ale. That is probably one of the best beers I have ever had. I believe it is still considered a Pumkin Ale even though they call it a spiced ale, its tastes like pumkin pie filling,...mmmm so good. We mix it half and half with thier Nut Brown to tone it down sometimes. If your wife bought that crappy stuff they sell in the supermarkets with the orange bottle cap then ya I agree that is weaksauce, but you should definately ckeck out some of the local spiced/pumkin ales before dismiss them altogether.
Man all this beer talk is making me thirsty. Good thing I'll be back in Oregon on Wednesday for four days of pure inebriation (and a buddy's wedding in there sometime).

OK! OK! I go on beer runs too!

Hey Irie, anything that makes the cat cross-eyed is good enough for me.

Oh, and FWIW, if you get beer for the squirrels, they prefer Bud.
