SoCal wasn't designed to deal with this much rain, and it really can be a problem. We've had mud slides closing freeways, flash floods, road closures, etc. This morning on the way to school I stopped at the side of the road near this giant puddle, just to check it out. I threw a rock in it and it was at least 4 feet deep . . . no joke.

last year we had no school for a day cause it was too too cold. 5 mins outside would give you a frost bite...but the next day when we didn't have school it warmed up and i rode my bike on the trails.

for some reason that picture reminds me on Monty Python and the Holy Grail, where the sun is jumping up and down and the guy has to go down all those flights of stairs. (Yeah I know i'm weird)

How cold was it that you get frostbite in 5 minutes? Back when I went to school I used to love snow days so we could go snow boarding.

why doesn't the road produce snow. that would be awsome, only having the roads full of snow. or why can't snow fall 1ft for every 10 mins. then plows could do a thi if it snowed for an hour. then there won't be school for a while.

No kidding. One thing that amazes me about SoCal is that
houses and roads will be built anywhere, no matter what..
This is part of a cyclical El Nino event, for which we were due.
Historically, all the rivers emptied out of the mountains into these
great big wide washes that covered huge swaths of land in all the
    valleys.
We are building in a lot of places that we shouldn't be.
My favorite thing ever are the ignorant homeowners who say things like:
"how could we have planned for this, I can't believe this happened, etc."
when their house was built on a super steep hill or next to a giant desert
    wash.
