UCI DH WC Vallnord - Bulk Pictures (be warned)

Hi all Made my way from Barcelona to the DH race this morning early.

The weather was wet and crap all round really, it had stopped raining by the time I got to Andorra, but there had been considerable rain over night.... So the course was a mud bath and bog to say the least, practice was good, big difference in speed and pace between the pro's and the less ranked peeps, but all the same was great to be there and a great atmosphere...

Rach Atherton was flying, was great to see..... In the mens, G Atherton qualified fastest, then Sam the Man, then Fabian B then Peaty...... I only had my P&S, so sorry for the picture quality.... And cant have a good look at them outside on the lappy, hope that makes sense....

Sorry didnt get these up earlier, no 3G up the mountain, slow as puss!!!

the wc is ridiculous. It looked like they were hauling in the video, but you couldnt see how muddy it was really. averaging 33 for that is absurd, thanks for the picks whafe, awesome to see, haven't gotten to see so many pics of this track as normal

Nice photos indeed! It would not have been easy even walking in that muck to get close enough for the great shots.

I think what really sets Hill apart is his ability to pick the most unique lines. That's why he kills it in tech rocky/rooty areas and in turns. He was carrying way more speed on those top turns cause he was taking them inside and cranking a lot. Once he got into the woods where there were limited line choices and not THAT much techy stuff he started to lose time. The bottom section looked fairly straightforward from what I can see and that's where he was slowest. He lost time to Gee and Minaar on that bottom section. It may have been slimy, offcamber, etc. but it didn't look to have many confusing tech sections.

kamikazee ideki - I guess 0.33 of a second isnt too bad in the scheme of things to be beaten by, still beaten....

Mr B sums it up really well, the bottom section I guess could be deemed as straight forward, still was not easy, but yes, the lines well travelled were the lines many more or less had to take if that makes sense...

Walking wasnt too bad, yes but was a bog really in the bottom section.....

So sloppy and wet... awesome. It's one thing to "ride" a trail in those conditions and another thing to go balls-out fast... thanks for posting, always love to see wc courses.

Why thank you, yeah, never got to the very top, but tried to get many areas of the lower portion of the trail, all the video footage doesnt really show how wet it was in my opinion....

Not as wet for sure as when Samuel Hill got 2nd last year in the most blinding good run I have seen in DH for a good while....

Was awesome to see some kiwis too, along with yarning again to one of the Junior kiwis Brook, whom spoke with a couple weeks ago in the shuttle at RotoVegas..... A cool bunch of dudes....

Sam B is rocking it............... I think there were 11 Kiwis competing in the DH alone, 4 through to the final 80, gotta be happy with that....................

We were watching the game live on the Internet.
Drinking beer and yelling together with those crazy hosts.
Suddenly the signal was gone and the screen blacked out!
    Everything was gone.
Only less than two minutes needed to see Gee defeat Sam.
    What a shame!
Only the beer on the table is something to rely on!

EBX, Err - The course I thought was a ripper, no real jumps to get air to speak of. The course did not have the, well guess you could call it a smaller road gap that is usually in the course......
