You are my size...I've broken a few frames over the years so my focus has been on burly, beefy designed frames. At that price you are talking used unless you go hard tail. I loved my 2012 SC Heckler (26")...around 2015 they went to 27.5". They were a very popular bike so I'm sure used ones can be found. That's a fun, fairly light, tough and reliable bike. But with 150mm of suspension that may be a bit much for Fla riding. May help to share how much travel you are looking for.
    12 Santa Cruz Heckler
    18 Kona Process 153 AL/DL (27.5)...

since you are in florida... any 150mm FS bike w/ 66 degree HA should be fine for santos type drops. You could get away with hardtail AM bike too for FL free riding, which i would recommend (commencal meta HT).
