    Too much too quick.

I asked awhile back if anyone had tried "Rocket" rings. I had 2 rides on a new 34t mid ring & I bent th' crap out of it, worst I've ever bent one. It was on a short steep climb that requires me to drop to my granny the sec. I get up a 3ft bank. Guess my shiftin' wasn't timed jus' right. Anyways I replaced the bent one w/a Race Face 34t ring, lil' tougher on th' climbs. Well, then last week I go and slip a 2.7 Nevegal dh in-amongst my Slider +. I love this tire, grip is great in rooty, rocky stuff, dry or wet. I have a 2.6 Kinetic dh on th' back & it's all over the place compared to the Nevegal.

Now, bewixt the 34t ring & th' 300lb. Nevegal I have challenged myself to "get used to it" over the winter & be ready for spring. "Too much, too quick." I'll deal w/it.

Is the 2.6" Kinetic a Stick-E compound as well?

My Bullit, black, came with the foldin' bead version of th' Kinetic, pinch flats left & right. Ditched'em for the dh version of th' Kinetic. I noticed most peeps are runnin' the BlueGroove up ft. & the Nevegal in bk. Is it that much better than the Nevegal?? Why??

heh, someone just ordered a set of rocket rings at the shop I work at...

he wanted those particular rings and waited a while to get them too!
I know in my heart that Ellsworth bikes are more durable by as much as double. AND they are all lighter...Tony Ellsworth

Most people that I've talked to up here are running Nevegals front and rear. We ride in soft conditions all the time so need the knob height.

IMO only (2) advantages to "Rocket rings".

    (1) they are about 1/2 th' cost of Race Face or Salsa & other compareable rings.
(I ended up w/ Race Face cause Truvativ don't offer a ramped & pinned 34t ring, acording to my LBS.)

    (2) they are lighter than Race Face or Salsa & other compareable rings. The sections between bolt holes are very narrow. IMO this "aspect" of the "Rocket rings" contributed to my "ring situation". The contribution may have been minimal on "Rockets" part, I take full responsibilty for the sorry shifting that occurred. Although my Race Face ring has twice th' meat between bolt holes as the "Rocket" ring does. Again, I ain't blaming "Rocket" for my self-inflicted damage.
