How much better off would he have been if he transferred some of that impact into the throat/ jaw area?

I saw that on Vital or PinkBike today. Not a happy situation.

Not the point. What's the purpose of wearing a helmet if you're not going to use the strap. Why not put on a parachute over your arms but not strapping it around your chest (or however those things go on). I don't know how bad this guy was hurt, if much at all, but I don't think it would have been as bad if he has strapped the helmet.

Also, what is the point of a Leatt when your helmet isn't strapped on. The Leatt is just going to lever the helmet straight off your head when your head hits the ground, exposing you to both head and neck injury.

Quite possible he just forget to clip in the chin strap, I've done it before. Noticed something slapping against my throat halfway down the trail, oops.

LOL, I had a guy in my squad, in the 82nd airborne, that lost a testicle because he decided to leave his leg straps loose, rather than snug.

I thought the point of not wear gloves was to make strapping your helmet on easier.
Either way I hope he's ok.

Wore a Leatt, didn't strap helmet. Color me confused?

Not strapping a helmet is the same as not wearing a helmet.

I saw that on pinkbike earlier but dang, it still looks painful. Just judging by the equipment he's using I honestly would not have expected to see that happen but I agree, hopefully all is well and he's alright.

That's kinda ****ed up. I agree it's funny to the uneducated, but unless we know he's alright it seems premature to be writing captions.

Yea i messaged the guy that posted it and he said he just found it and felt like posting it because he thought it was funny.

Its amazing to me that before i was into mtb, i watched supercross and stuff for the crashes. now that i am into mtb, I hate seeing crashes. Its funny, after you crash a few times it isnt funny anymore.

He must have hit the ground hard. AM or XC helmet would fly off hitting any gnar, if you didn't do the chin stap, ... On the other hand full face helmets fit snuggly and I would think it would take quite an impact to pop off. Hope the rider is ok

damn.... that's always my doctrine, if you're going to wear a helmet.. why not strap it? i even remember from my skateboarding days all the kids at the skatepark wouldn't strap their helmets and they'd fall off even just going down a ramp

Sucks to crash, we've all been there but this is great camera work. I'd love to see the entire sequence the photographer shot.
