Only if they are sponsors. Otherwise, IMO, it's juvenile - - and wrong. Why advertise for them for free? Don't advertise any company unless they are giving you something. Any sticker you display without compensation devalues one of the incentives of sponsorship.

The only sticker I put on my bikes is an MTBR sticker. I like this place, it's run by a bunch of cool guys, and I don't mind giving them some free advertising. Although I did have a "steal your face" sticker on one of my past bikes.

I disagree. Yes it is one of the quirks of sponsorship, but whats wrong with showing a little love for a company you like? Nothing, nothing at all.

    Stickers are A-OK

I dig stickers. It's fun to make cool stuff and customize your bike. Plus, it's only free advertising if people go out and buy stuff after seeing your bike. In my case, it's probably negative advertising because I suck.

Company stickers on your bike is so ricer. It's the same evil that brought us 17 year old kids putting BREMBO, AEM, and some chinese lettering that really says "Douchebag" not "Fast" all over their body-kitted Hondas.

Moreover, someone should put an end to replica team jerseys and sponsor-splattered riding wear at races. I asked a guy last weekend why he was racing Beginner class when he was rockin' so many sponsors and he informed me it was just for looks. He needed a smack, despite being a nice guy. I really would have been doing him a favor, but sadly he was far from the minority.

If they are not tacky they will not stick to anything and therefor are not stickers.

Maybe their kid rides BMX,MTB,Moto, etc and they just want to represent. I saw this "soccer" mom dropping off her kid and friends at the base of Montara mountain, in a SUV with FOX, SC, TLD, and other stickers on the back window. She then parked, pulled out a book while the groms ripped for a couple hours.

Bet PhotoMom has stickers on her SUV. Anyways our Tahoe has a FOX sticker but wife/daughter hates soccer. Bball all the way!

and if PhotoMom has any of the same stickers as me on her ride, i will remove my matching sticker and burn it....

fox is a big trendy outfit anymore, just like nike (which i would also never wear)

Hate is the new white, which is the new black, which is the new pink. Try to keep up, kids.

There's more than enough stoke, bro-hugs, and feeding off each other to go around in the scene. This is why I'm bringing my unique blend of racer taunting and obscenities to the races here in the east this season. If you hear someone shouting "pedal fat ass, pedal for pie!!" or "I f*cked your mom and she was bad" or "eye of the tiger, lardo!" then it's probably me lurking about.

Something to balance out all the granola chomping and good cheer. If they need a little bit of therapy at the end of the race then a job well done.

If the stickers are free and you know what the company stands for and support it then that's cool. Your a fockin' idiot though if you pay for a sticker and then put it on. Your basically paying the company to advertise for them.

...I'm guessing you got your bike for free, helmet for free, gloves, gear, etc for free. You paid at least $2K for your bike and you don't think you're advertising?

There's nothing wrong with showing support for a company supporting your sport. Just the fact that you showed up to a riding spot/race with your lifted 05' Ford F-150 with 6" Procomp suspension, Fox Racing Shocks, 35" Superswampers, 06' Specialized Demo 8 with Marzocchi 888RC, Fox DHX, Mavic DeeMax, Kenda tires, mounted on a Sportworks/Thule rack while you put on your Fox 911 armor, TLD Carbon helmet, Oakley googles, Camelback Mule full of Gatorade Strawberry, listening to Metallica/Rolling Stones/Led Zeppelin/Green Day on your Sony MP3 player, etc, etc, etc...I'm sure a rouge sticker that I paid a $1 for on my jacked up Tahoe wouldn't hurt?

Everyone is sooo anti establishment, so anti-corporation but what many don't understand in this society of capitalism you need the big companies to compliment the smaller ones. Without big corporations, the small boutique bike builders would not have a chance to exist and survive without a small niche to build off the mass producers. We complain about advertising for a company that you don't believe in but in the end who runs or created this companies were/are just like us...men and women who love biking. Isn't that enough for you?

BTW...nothing sexier than a MILF especially if that one is the one you love and beared your wonderful children! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

i fully believe this, i just don't see the need to freely advertise for those who can afford to do it themselves. i have many stickers on my truck, and i only have stickers from small companies i would like to see thrive in the business. to us they might seem like big names, but in the bigger scheme of things, they are relatively unknown. Marzocchi is the biggest name on my ride, the rest are so small they produce less than a couple hundred of thier product each year. where companies like FOX have stores in the mall for the fashion conscoius (sp?) kids who have no inkling of ever using thier product....

    I hear ya...

...couple years back my wife was buying me a FOX (sorry) jersey for Xmas. The girl at the counter said "yeah, these are tight!". My wife responded, oh no my husband really rides!

Yeah I know companies like Fox, Nike, Microsoft, Specialized, GM, etc could be accused of being over exposed and too mainstream. But in the end we as the consumers benefit from their R&D and marketing. Also they were all small once.

Bubba & RC and moto just wouldn't be the same without Fox.
Basketball culture would not be what it is now w/o the Air Jordan.
On-line and HD video gaming would not have progressed w/o the Xbox 360.
The most successful (not necessarily the best) suspension design w/o Horst/Specialized.
2007 Z06 Corvette with 505 hp pushrod V8, one of the fastest production cars around the famed Nürburgring besting Ferrari, Lamborgini and near Porsche.

I fully respect those who support the little guys (like Versus ). It's just fun to see the passion in everyone's opinion.

I'm going to check how my poll's going. Have a great day!

You totally missed my point which was about stickers and not equipment since that's what this thread is about. Of course I bought my bike and equipment and the company has everyright put their logo on the equipment, but ultimately I bought the hardware and got something in return for my money. Stickers on the other hand are pure advertisement, representation, association and I don't believe in paying for them. If you want to that's cool, I shouldn't called all 1 dollar sticker buyers idiots, but if you are buying a bunch of them or the huge 20 dollar Hyperlite window logo and your not sponsered but are trying to look the part then I call idiot. I'm not saying I don't have stickers on stuff or don't like stickers I just don't pay for them. I am known to take stickers off of things, sharpie logos, and spray painting things out if I don't think they look good or are excessive. Take for instance my Fox 36's. They say Fox on them 6 times so I took the 4 big ones off cuz I like how it looks without them. I don't have anything against Fox but don't feel like looking like having them shout at me all the time. That's how I feel about alot of advertising. There's good advertising, then there is advertising that is just way too loud and intrusive.

    overstickering

slim your post about the 36s remind me of a brand new norco road bike I saw not long ago in a local shop. Granted, twas a very nice bike and norco had every right to have their name proudly displayed on it, but I counted 12 stickers and could only see one half of the bike.... thats just insanity

    ride the good ride
    daver
