    Steamboat Springs Colorado DHing???

I've got a friend heading to Steamboat Springs and he's wondering what
the mountain i like. Any body have any experience riding DH at Steamboat Springs?

I did a search and didn't find much, and their website is pretty terrible.

Is this a good mountain for a full on DH rig, or is this more of a Trailbike type mountain?

Any info would be great thanks.

I've never ridden there, but when I was out there in the winter people told me there was no downhill at steamboat it was all cross country.

Don't know how it is now but in the past you couldn't bring a full DH rig on the lifts. Sounds kind of like what big bear in CA has set up. More of a place for XC with a lift assist. I rode Keystone a few times in the past with people from steamboat and thats why they made the trip over to summit. Now this info was from about a year ago so things could have changed.

I just went there about 6 wks ago. The locals said that it was pretty muddy on the lift access trails (I'm sure it's fine now) but DH bike are kinda frowned upon. I had an absolute BLAST there on my 6" trail bike though! If he doesn't mind climbing, there's a trail that goes to a place called The Quarry. It was a pretty good lung burner with rewarding DH. (Not like big-bike DH: think more along the lines of trail bike ;-) hope that helps!
