you'd be surprised what a differance it makes in powder. they get a stupid grip on ice. predictions are up to 12-20 inches now.

The storm was very badly timed two days later and I could have had 2 days off but now I need to go to school tomorrow since it is already over.

I wanted to stud my tires. Instead I just wrote around with a knobbie in front and a old bald tire for drifting in the back
Front tire was fine in 1inch of powder on the pavement, perfect for drifting. More than that and the front tire slid out. I really have to spike that bad boy.
How was turning with those studs, do you wish you had put more in the front tire?

its not that bad...obviously turing radius will suffer, but its much better then with normal tires. even with studs, i had to take it easy on the turns. then again, my tire only slid out once i pushed it beyond its limits making it very predictable...its all about taking it easy..good balance helps too. the studded tire peformed very well on the hill. the snow was somewhat packed and i had exceptional traction. i was even able to brake well too. i was amazed i was able to control my drifting very well, cause the front keeps on track while the back is out doing its thing. in general, the more packed the snow, the better the tire would peform. the studs do get worn down pretty fast...this tire wont last me the season.
