slightly used rig w/ awesome components OR new 2017 w/ meh components?

set to pull the trigger on my first dh rig. got a budget that's letting me look at awesome used 2017 bikes with epic components, or brand new 2017's with so-so components.

    thoughts?

You need to be more specific on frames and builds.

Option 1 for sure. The brakes alone are worth it. Fahn

I'd go with Option 1 as well.

Of course, I own a 2017 Jedi with DVO emerald, spank 33s, Spank 800 race bars, Deity saddle, and Canfield 155 cranks w/36 ring, so I may be a bit biased. I've got ZEE brakes, derailleur and shifter, and CCDB coil shock (Jade was my preference but wasn't available at the time) so I am a bit sympathetic towards option 2 at the right price, but I'd definitely go Option 1 no question for the same money.

I don't have any experience with the Intense, but the component spec doesn't sway me to go new.

The nice thing about the DVO suspension is that it's fully user serviceable and tune-able.

Thanks a bunch guys. I'm a Canfield head myself so I was leaning that direction, but I know Intense makes some good rigs and have a buddy who rides one and loves it. Looks like option 1 is shining me on so option 2 it is. By the sound of it, I have to try me some dvo's in the future.

    appreciate all the feedback.

Used DH bikes have often taken a beating. Depends though on where they were ridden. Buffed out bike parks are more the norm these days, rather than the old school bash and crash hills.

Unless I could get a very good look at the used DH bike, I would go new.
