    Shock Options

Have my Vanilla RC Pushed or invest in a DHX...what do you guys think?? I've demo'd a few bikes with DHX's but never owned one and I've heard their sweet but what's the honest low down on the hype (from DHX riders)?? Thanks.

do not own DHX, but I'm sure it will have helluva more adjustability.

The reason I ask is that a good linkage design, for example a Big Hit, is fairly efficient and not as dependant on a stable platform shock like a 5th or DHX. I'm not saying that a good linkage design won't benefit from a stable platform, just that it isn't as critical. Now a big single pivot benefits dramatically from a stable platform shock, and almost requires it to be a good pedaler. For me, if I had a bike like a Big Hit or Intense FSR linkage model and already had a properly sized Fox RC to fit it, I'd be tempted just to push the RC. I have two long travel single pivot bikes and use 5th Elements and DHX shocks on them, and they work excellently. Regardless of your bike design, if you have the money to get a new shock, you'd be very satisfied with a DHX. As Lucky mentioned, the DHX offers great adjustability, with the bottom-out feature being a very helpful tuning option.
