    shimano saint

if it was not for the " nobb " on the back of the saint derailer would you be able to mount it to a standard hanger? if so, would the derailer work if not mounted directly to the hub?

As far as I know it will only work on a saint hub. First of all its designed to move from the center of the axle, so if you moved it an inch down and over to the hanger, it probably wouldn’t work as well. Besides, I think it uses the axle to mount to and it also uses the hanger to use as some sort of bumper to prevent the derailleur from moving to far and breaking.

It does not have to be a Saint hub, but it does require a Saint compatible axle.

I didnt know that. Do they make aftermarket axles to work Saint der.? For instance if I had a 150x12mm axle for my Hadley hub, can I get one with the saint mount?

Yes I believe the Shimano 12x150 Saint thru-axle will work. BTI has it http://bti-usa.com/item.asp?item=SH3...owSec=0&filter= , check it out.

Also for what it's work, you can mount a Saint on a Hone hub/alxe. I just converted my XT hub to a Hone axle and mounted a Saint der, thing it super tight. Now I don;t have to worry about those crappy Specialized hangers anymore, Thank you jeebiz!

Saint blows, don't bother...they call call it Rapid Demise shifting for no reason. The stuff works ok for about a week, then it never works again. Go with SRAM.
