New question here. Questions (Giant Faith)

I'm getting a Giant Faith 2, and I was just wondering some things:

    1. For the Junior T., I can get a HSCV cartridge, correct? Is it also worth getting a SSVF cartridge too? If I got both, would the damping perform as well as the 888rc? Can I get anything else for it to make it better?

    2. How much would a titanium spring weigh vs. the steel spring on the Swinger, and is it worth getting, because the Faith is heavy.

    3. What should I get in the future for it? I'm just thinking about x-9 shifters and an x-0 rear derailleur.

Anything else that I should know would help, too.

    Thanks

    Edit:

    4. What are some things that I can do to lighten the bike up?

    5. Is there a company like PUSH that can do anything with the fork?

Answering any questions you can would be nice

    Thanks again.

    2) I think you'd save 150-200g with the ti spring and get a slightly more responsive shock. Try and find a used spring.

order it and sell the jrt via the web (350us). get a used shiver (500us). forget spring, der and shifter upgrades and shred it. save your money for wheels, tires and whatever fails.

I have a new ti spring 400# for a Faith 1 but i'm notsure how I would go about selling it to you so far away.Never used from go -ride. And if you are small in height beware the small Faith is big, tooo big for me at 5'5".I,m on Vancouver Island. B.C. Canada.

I'm not into buying used things from people for some reason, I don't know why.

i would not worry about the shiver or old monsters. they are built to last and blow away 05 jrts.

I'm coming from a 5 inch travel bike (2003 Jamis Dakar XLT 1.0), so I'm not going to be doing 10-15 foot drops right off. Wouldnt the Junior T. be alright with the new cartridges and whatnot? It's not like the stanctions arent strong enough or anything, boxxers have the same size, and the 05's have a 20mm drop-out now. It seems like it'd hold up to a lot.

...and can also double as boat anchors. If I remember right he is trying to lighten this bike up a bit.

How much would the carts cost?

Any other way I can lighten my bike up would help, too.

Quite a bit, I'd call Marzocchi direct and get a quote. Have them install it too, they know what they are doing.

like i said sell the jrt and get another fork. its gonna cost you about 400 to upgrade a jrt. the jrt spikes on any decent hit (it will make a 6ft drop feel harsh while a used shiver will laugh at the same hit). and dont worry about weight. used zokes have superior valving that skies off any lip, rock or root. either do the cartridge swap or get a used zoke but remember that the you will be forced to do the former if you ride the fork even once (the resale value of a used jrt is squat). i bet you could sell the jrt and get a used 03 super t for the same amount.
besides frame stiffness/integrity the most important part of a freeride bike is the fork imo. the only reason the jrt still exists is for oem purposes (its super cheap to spec it on a bike lineup). the shiver is the best deal in used forks right now. they last forever and are lighter than the old monster.
