    seatpost problems

I was recently given a "da bomb" sputnik for free. The problem is, it takes a 31.4 seatpost.
The only one i found in the U.S. was a kalloy. No Thanks.
I can get the "da bomb" seatpost in 31.4 but i have to order it from a shop in israel. Which is fine, im not really in any rush.
My other solution is to use a shim. But the only shims for a 31.4 use a 27.2 seatpost.

Should i be uneasy with using the 27.2 with the shim?
Shoud I buy the one made by da bomb?
    Do you have one?
Oh, and whats a good chainguide to use if your bike doesn't have iscg mounts and you are running a single up front with a 9sp in back?
    Thanks

If you can find one, Syncros used to make a post in 31.4 called the Hardcore. Might be hard to find since they don't manufacture them anymore. Sorry I could not be of more help to you, good luck.

I looked all over for the synchros. I just think the kalloy one sucks and if I crash too crazy i don't want the shim+seatpost combo to mess up the frame. Looks like im oerdering from overseas...
