Sanjay and Riffle on a road team?

Well, according to velonews at least...

I was just reading thru the North American rosters and spotted a few names that looked out of place.

Anyone got the scoop on this? I've sent a few emails out jsut before posting this, so I'll post up if I find anything interesting.

They're not on the PRO team but will be doing low level road races for Toyota to help the them with their UCI points (not racing DH for them)

    ^^^ pretty much covered it.

It's also never surprising to see [competitive] DH'ers riding road.... Great cross training.

It is a way for road teams to fill up their quota... I bet the pro DH'ers will only do the 2 or 3 required races.

As I understand road teams need a certain average age to meet UCI (I think) standards... so to do this they bring in young DH'ers... simple way around a rule.
