    Rock Shox's universal leakage

Any body heard or seen this years Rock shox major problem. All their forks are leaking from the rebound knob.

I have to fix some of them for a LBS . I know its not from the knob sealing its self . I mean its not from the oil in the outer leg ( lubricant oil) . Its from inside the damper .The damping oil. And the damping oil is sealed from the bottom with two O-rings. There is a rod which connects the rebound damper to the bottom of outer leg and a white piston like thing holding the rod in place .
An O-ring is located on the outer rim of that rod sealing damper from stanchion inner bore. And another one sealing it from the rod –piston joint.

Any body knows with one I have to change ? Or if the leakage could be from the inside of the rod its self?

Its important for me to know exactly where the problem is . As I want to work on more than 50 Rock Shox’s ( Dart’s- Totems and Lyrics).

    Thanks.

Sounds real complicated. Might wanna ask in the suspension forum or a mechanics one if there is one.

sran is pretty good about sending out the whole assembly in the picture at no cost as long as the warranty is good.

I have the same exact problem haha. Oh well. Entry level rock shocks suck anyways. Look up an antonym for plush and that will describe the ride it gives me on my rockhopper.

totems and lyrics are well known "lower end" rock shox forks.

he lives in Iran guys, sending stuff back whenever something goes slightly wrong isn't always an option, and he's a machinist.

We have two Sunday Elites at the shop with Totems and they just sit and drip oil from the rebound knob all day long.

Lower end in my book is Judy, Dart, Tora etc.

Even if you're buying $2k forks surely $1k forks would still be considered mid range. Unless of course he was talking in regards to the technology used in them.

    Racismo? jajaja idiota.

ACTUALLY.... that is considered as racism or racial discrimination. By pure definition, racism is indeed the discrimination of race, but in the XXI century, and actually since the term was defined, racism can be used to express an ideology of superiority, in a social, economical or purely racial context. Racial discrimination ranges from eye, hair, skin color to social strata and residence, but if you want even more specific terminology then yeah.... you are being classicist, xenophobic and simply... AN ASS!!

Get some REAL education dude, and start respecting other cultures, countries and people.

Btw, I would rather live in a country which is seen as the border for inmigrants than live in a country reigned by socialism ("democratic socialism"-my ass) and dictatorship.

    LOL.

Btw Alberto, I wouldn't start bashing a country which is far superior to your own... greater GDP/GNP, much greater Human Development Index (a good value to show the life quality in a country), lower inflation etc etc...

180,000 Mexicans per year, which equates to the 0.0017% of the population.

And if 80% of Venezuelans do not approve the current government... why aren't they doing anything to stop/remove the government? Oh, what a democracy!!!!

WTF thread can we get back on topic instead of talking chit?

My Rockshox Domain 318 has this problem. I think RS had a bad batch of crush washers or something that aren't sealing correctly. I tightened down the bolt and it helped a good bit so I haven't been really worried about it. I haven't tried calling SRAM mostly because the fork works fine and I don't want it gone for weeks to repair such a minor issue.

    Summary so far:

    1. RockShox forks in Iran are leaking from the rebound knob. Saber would like help with it (cause shipping stuff is....you get the picture...). The problem concerns Darts. Totems, and Lyrics. Kinda like saying that all my Skodas, BMWs, and Ferrari's have this weird engine problem.

    2. Somebody says that all low end RS shox suck, anyway.

    3. Someone else says WTF Lyrics and Totems aren't low end (but in a code language aka sarcasm).

    4. Albertomannil misses the code language and also says WTF those aren't low end (but not in code language)

    5. Tacu says WTF someone else was being sarcastic and calls Alberto a retard.

    6. Albertomannil throws in a racial slur.

    7. Tacu and Alberto dish it out over who has the best country (Mexico or Venezuela). We don't know who won, but my vote goes to Tacu for not resorting to unwarranted racial slurs (only slurs that offend retarded people - which is of course well tolerated, acceptable, and sometimes encourageable behavior on the DH/FR/FaceBook-for-bike-riders-forum. Except that you should spell it retart, you moran).

    8. DuckTape admits to being an ass (most of us don't know why), and then offers a helpful link for Saber's fork problem (you know, the leaking Dart that started this whole thing).

    9. a third someone says WTF (in general) and then adds that you can always tighten the nuts down more. This is almost always true, anyway.

    10. a fourth somebody wastes time by making a summary in bullet point form of everything that went down so far.

That's where we stand now. If we can get some more slurs thrown in, and a couple new ways to spell sRam....I meant sraN....then yeah,....we have the makings of a good thread right here! Lets not waste it!

    Tough to follow that up....

    Hows about them Padre's?

(sorry no fork advice here, but now I'm going to have eagle eyes on my new totem's rebound knob, thanks)

Hate to read a thread like this after just landing an awesome deal on a '08 Lyric U-Turn. Quick question, if a fork is bought second-hand-new (if there is such a thing) is it likely the manufacture will bust your balls about fixing it if there is a problem?

Actually, it's numerical form, not bullet form, since you marked your observations with numb...oh nevermind. I figure I'd want to throw that in there, and be useless contributor number 5 or so. Go Castro!!
