going to whistler next month - and boy from my last trip up last month - it doesn't surprise me one bit that there was a slide.

    that stuff looked massively dangerous.

bah, I have been driving that road for close to 20 years now, it is massively improved from what it used to be. You can still get to Whistler if you go up through the interior then back down through pemberton. Or just fly in. but if you are gonna fly you may as well do a heli drop somewhere really cool and go from there.........

There's a thread on NSMB that seems to be being updated with info faster than any other source that I can find. Late today, it appears that the work crews have received permission to push much/all of the debris into the sound. This should speed things up over having to load and haul the debris away. I'm driving up on Sun, hoping not to have to take the long way...

Wholly crap! Did it happen on its own, or in one of those areas they're doing all that construction (at least they where in February when I went through there, looked like a big project).
You have just been mentally Rick Roll'd. Yup you're thinking about it right now aren't you? Don't fight it.

On its own - construction is quite a bit away from those areas.

    lol

Keep in mind if you think they are going to open it right after they clear you have another thing coming. they will make sure it is sound and has no more cracks/weak spots, if they find some they will probably blast it, and the proccess starts all over again

    Finally got here......

after a 9 hour trip. Some of the plusses are short lines and many hotels/condos are giving refunds. Yea, that's right....if you had a reservation they are giving you 100 % refunds. Lines are going to be real short and it is a long weekend here.

Can' wait to hit those trails tomorrow. Sun-Wed is suppose to be great sunny weather too.

I arrive into Vancouver on the 8/8/08, so all should be clear am hoping, if not, a longer scenic drive.....

They are some rather large rocks to I might add, role on the next few days and may they go lightening fast....
