    Rear Shock Springs

I have a Fox Van RC shock with a 300lb x 3.25 spring. I need a bigger lb spring. Can I use a 3.0 inch stroke spring even though the stock spring is a 3.25 inch stroke spring?

    Thanks

Yes, if your shock stroke is 3.0!

    What size is your shock?

In general, the length of the spring stroke needs to be greater than or equal to your shock travel. However, it can't be too large.

For example a 3.0" stroke will fit fine on a 9.5 x 3.0 shock, but the free spring length of a 3.0" stroke spring would be too long for a 7.5 x 2.0 shock.

My guess is that since your stock spring has a 3.25" stroke, you probably have a 9.5 x 3.0 shock. I'm pretty sure that shock length is measured eye-to-eye if you need help determining the size of your shock.

In this case, you could probably run a 3.0" or 3.5" stroke spring. You just need to make sure the free spring length will fit on your shock.
