    Rear shock exchange

    Hey everyone

I have a question; I just bought my wife a Mongoose Teocali and would like to replace her SR Suntour Epicon rear shock with my FOX Van R. The Epicon eye-to-eye is about 200mm while the Van R is 220mm.

Will the Van R work on the Mongoose frame?

Also, what role does the stroke/travel of the shock play?

I'd be willing to place money that the 7.875" (200mm) shock won't swap out with your 8.5" (216mm) shock. It's probably a 2" stroke shock, so you could probably replace it with this by swapping out the shock eye bushings for a "reasonable" price...

The stroke of the shock multiplied by the leverage ratio of the suspension dictates travel...a bit difficult to calculate with anything but a single-pivot suspension.
