    quick tyres rim question

OK - need to choose rims - probably between mavic 721s and 729s

The bike will usually have 2.35 tyres on it but for uplift days/ holidays it will be on 2.5 maxis minions or something like that. What am i best to go for as i only want one set of wheels and dont know which way is best to go. Lighter the better and 721s are lighter.

729s are wide and will take 2.5 no probs but might stretch the 2.35s. 721s are narrower and may bulb the 2.5s a bit.

Let me know your experiences from running these size combos please

    Thanks
    Martin

Either width tire will work fine on either rim.

With both tires the wider rim will give the tire better lateral support which is important for big jumps/drops/heavy riders.

If you using only Maxxis tires the 721 is probably wide enough as the tires are "small" compared to some other brands.

The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common
