    Q for Hayes brakes users

While riding our (me and son) lever reach adjustment changes to the farthest adjustment. We re-adjust and it changes again, this is a recurrent problem and it's starting to really annoy me.

Seems that the vibration moves the adjusting bolt, have heard about locktiting the bolt to prevent this but causes the stripping of the bolt later.

Do your levers reach changes while riding?

If so what do you do to avoid the change in reach?

Try the Straitline barrels... They work good if properly installed. Get the right size... size by 4mm or 4.5mm.... never by H-9 or Mag. Some Mags have 4mm like mine.

Call Hayes they will send you a set of new barrel adjusters that have a nylon thread insert to correct your problem

Nylon tape or blue locktite will fix you up. Just use the locktite sparingly and reapply when necessary. DO NOT use the red stuff.
    Bike good, work bad.

Be careful, get the smallest bit of loctite between the barrel and the lever itself and your brake levers will not return once you've released them - it's not a big deal to fix, just a needless hassle, especially if you discover the issue on the trail.
    Now with more vitriol!
