Why is the demo series becoming like the bloody bullit. I swear I see enough Demo's on this forum its not funny. I'm sure we have all seen the Demo 9. It does not change after 1 week of posting pics of it ect.. To the point where people are trying to put 1+ 1 = 4 on the whole demo 9 linkage system. *cough *cough. I'm sure you love your bike as to the point you would like to post it on a forum, that's normal. Freaking hell I gota slave for 2 more months for my dh bike. (deals are good and make it very a fordable) i want to sleep with the parts on the bike but not the frame. hehe

but the thing that puts this apart from all the rest is the custom rear stays...there black not silver...

and cheers for the compliments...its a great machine...im sure im gogin to have it for a long time as long as i dont break it...

cant wait to post some action shots next week...

Well well, BJ proves his detractors wrong (about the bike anyway).

Enjoy it BJ, it looks sweet--although that seat looks like a chrome-plated dildo.

Oh, the frame is a small? Aren't you like 6'5"?

Congrats man, very nice! The stays look like they're off an '04 DH correct? Frame also looks much much shinier than Digger's...maybe it's just the light, but his has more of a brushed than polished finish. Are the Demos just a little different in AUS, or did that bike just get an unusual mix of parts?

Wait a minute. These pictures prove nothing.

Man its completely crazy how popular these bikes are!!! I mean with a bike that rides well in most conditions, isnt just a shuttle bike, is specced well, AND is available at a fairly decent price who would have thought that it would become so popular just like another popular all around bike!!! It's insane dude!

nice ride, but Daphnie is a gay ass name. Id name it something hardcore like Darrel or DankDemo. Any so that is a small? Whats the weight like and how did u get a silver front triangle with a black rear end? Ive never seen that before? Dont be so worried about ur SPV pressure and ur Progressiveness. When I had a my 5th I worried too much and it felt like crap. Back out ur bottem resistance ALL the way and put ur SPV at REALLY low. The bike is already a good pedaling design and it has a curving suspension so it is naturally progressive. Your pretty light weight as I understand so don't get too caught up in the bottem out resistance. Also is your spring weight correct?

That is good advice. When I got mine I found that the more I screwed with the shock, the worse the bike felt. Back out the SPV chamber volume (big red nut surrounding air valve) and run the pressure at about 75 (50 is minimum), set the rear sag at 3" and it will feel oh so sweet.

Nice.... about time it came :P...... I think the polished look is the best.... Somehow the porn is dimished by the recent wave of Knolly bikes.... Sweet Demo though....everyone else has mentioned it too....but lets' see some badass action pics of your bike and Australia in general

Hey BJ, glad to hear you finally got it as for the suspension I have mine set up like so . I have about 3 inches of sag, I have my volume at about half way more towards all the way in, Im not sure how much psi I have in there but its pretty plush, and then I have my rebound about 6 clicks from all the way slow. As for the front I have the rebound about in the middle more towards the fast side so it will skim the bumps better. I probly dont have mine set up perfect but im sill tweaking on it, hope this helps.

your bike=suxors. my demo rules yours in every aspect of life.

haha just messing dude. sweet ride. im sure your stoked with it, i know i am with mine. now get off your crazy australian ass and ride the shiz out of that thing. as for the shock, i havent messed with my high and low speed compression yet, but i kinda like a stiffer set up. you can deal with the little bumps, what really matters is how it feels in the corners and off cambers. and something i've found is that on this bike you dont need to set it up to absorb the whole trail to feel good, the geometry just makes it wanna go fast over stuff anyways.

good luck with it man. get me some ride shots real soon. im working on some myself, but most of the time im having to much fun to get out the camera.

my current spring rate is to high...

im running a 400' lbs spring on the lowest setting and im only just not getting enough sag (i think im on about 25%) so im going to need a 350' lbs spring (to get 35% - 40%) but as tuning the shock goes ive lowered the SPV Volume and Pressure...as they were both way to high (it was set on 150 psi and was about 1 turn out for the volume) which is why my ass would have hurt so much...and thankfully is now about 55 psi with 3 and a half turns out...

i think i have short legs...which is the only conclusion i can come to as to why the bike fits me so well...but its killa...its small and manevourable yet big and burly at the same time...

im not sure of the weight...when i head up to EVs tonight or maby tomorrow ill weigh it on his bathroom scales...im hoping/assuming it will be quite light...it shouldnt be over 45' lbs though...ive used lightweight alimuinum bolts to do everything up and put alot of wrok into it getting it light so im going to be pissed if it isnt...

and as for the black stays...im friends with a couple of the guys who work at the bike shop i got it from so when i told them i wanted something different and unique...they suprised me by swapping over the stays with a DEMO9 DH...

    cheers guys its mad...

as for the advice dude you were right on...same goes for you KonaBiker, Big Digger and MotoXpro...

    cheers...

why are people 5' 10" getting large frames...just because you think your tall doesnt mean you are...

how tall are you and what size SX Trail are you getting...

my mate EV took the DEMO for a burl yesterday...it was only just to small for him...and hes 6' 3" and 150' lbs with long legs so hed fit a medium...what i dont understand is all you people who ride around bikes that are to big for you...

my other mate dave is 170' lbs and 6' 3" and he rides a medium (17") Banshee Scream...

Exactly, sometimes its about preferences too.

    I'm 6'1"ish and ride a medim V10, that has a 16" seattube.

It's just a case of personal preference...

my demo is only gonna get better as i go on. im only having one bike this season, so with the money from my stinky im gonna try and drop 4 lbs off my demo.

I understand, but i'm 5' 10'' and i have ridin a small frame from a hardtail, and my knees keep on hitting the handle bars-almost hit, but they hit when turning- I'm thinking about a Large or Medium SX Trail. my LBS if getting 3 in, 1 med and 2 large and i'm leaning towards a large. It depends, i have to ride both of them to see which one i like best. they will get them in and built by jan or feb and then i will go over and test them. i'll let you know how it works out. Maybe all of models, makes, types of bikes have different frames.i have a large frame bike and it seems to work out. My perference for a bike is something nice and nible, but also big. In my view from the small frame bikes i have ridin and meds, i'm going for a large. It seems comfortable to me.

the decision is up to you, but for your size i would definatly get a medium. if the sx trails are anything like the demo 9s then the large is friggin huge.

Yeah i was thinking about that, cause if a Small Demo fits a guy about my hieght very well, i think i would need about a medium. If the new Enduros are anything like the Demo in size then i need to reconsider about the large frame and for a med. I have ridin a Bighit MED frame and it felt small but good for riding, not as comfortable as my large Hardrock. So over all i think i need a MED, but i have to ride both bikes in order to figure out what i need. i'll bring a cam and post pics as soon as i they have one built up. price i can get for the SX is about 3000, but if i pay cash there won't be need of taxes and maybe 100 dollar reduction. that is US dollars to let you know.

    yeah, it does.

being that this is gonna be my only bike i really wanna lighten it up a bit. i did a semi xc ride the other day with a group and was really killing by the time we got to the top. and getting the bike to slide into corners is really hard with this 888. hope the boxxer will bring it down enough.

DEMOs are not light in anyway or sence of life...

    (laughing)

the dam 10km XC ride i went on when i got her killed me...it was pretty much the most un enjoyable ride ive ever been on...

as for my 888 im not finding it that hard and not having to many problems as far as cornering and the height of the fork...i must admit im not overall fussed about the height of the fork and quite like it...which is certainly different as i know alot of people who dont liek the height...

if anything id replace it with a 888 Works or a MRD X Works Dorado when they bring them back...

im loving the DEMO so far though...

the only thing id change is...

    e.13 STS/SRS guide...
SAINT or similar hollow tech BB and crank set like maby FSA...
    XTR Derailuer and shifter...
Michelin 2.5 Hot S tyres ran tubess...
and Atom Lab Trail Pimp Pedals...

but over all im quite happy with it...could be lighter though...

    my point exactly...

ive seen SX Trails etc...there was one in the shop when i got my DEMO and it was very nice...i unfortunatly didnt get to ride it...i was to focused on my new bike...shame becuase now when i think about it id liek to know how they feel...but as for the size of it...it looked pretty much like a DEMO it was sitting next to DEMOs so is sat just like one and looked like one...there very nice bikes...and would definatly not go bigger than a Medium because if it is anything like a large DEMO then thats just massive and super crazy...

i used to ride medium bikes...and only got the DEMO in small because DEMOs are huge...

so yeh medium...or even maby small depending on how big they are...but id say there a little bit smaller than DEMOs...

Kona and BJ. You guys dont have to worry, My Sunday USA frame will piss all over your demos. I was going to opt for a Demo 8 this year but now that this IronHorse stuff has worked itself out I should be getting hooked up here pretty soon. Nah jk them demos is tight but get them more raced out and then ill give mad props. Kona if your get all those parts on ur demo itll be one of the flyest around I wouldnt change anything on that build. Except maybe juicy5s just to save money since the lever adjustment on the 7s isnt really needed at all.

Except maybe juicy5s just to save money since the lever adjustment on the 7s isnt really needed at all.
    thats awesome...

i cant wait to see it...what colour you getting it in...and what you going to build it up with...
the SHIVER does loko nice on the DEMO but im a string bean so the 888 is mad for me...

i finally took the DEMO for a proper ride today...put it through its paces...it just screamed for more...i on the other hand after stacking really badly am not and am now at home sooking becuase my arm/shoulder looks like it got into a fight with a cheese grater...

    how strong are EX 729s...

and im glad your getting a small RedBull...my mate AL rode it today and although it was a little bit small and way too soft as hes a tank...hed fit a medium i reckon and hes 6' 2" 180lbs...there big bikes...

    i need a hug...

    Hey BJ,

Nice bike, upon looking for a lighter, shorter travel smaller frame I came across the sickest deal tonight, I was at the skatepark riding and a guy I know shows up on his Demo 9 DH. I asked him if he was interested in selling his Dorado off it and he says $350, so I say sure I'll take it since I need a new fork. So then I go to tell him I am looking for a new frame, he says yea me to I think I am gonna sell this, so of course, How much? I ask him, he says $950 and I was like WHAAAAAAT so he let me take it for a spin, I am 6'3'' and the Medium felt perfect.

So we got talking and this is the deal we came up with:

2004 Demo 9 DH Frame with Swinger 6 way and Ti spring
    Chris King Pewter Headset
    2003 Dorado DC
    Sun Ringle Abbah rear Hub
    Thomson Seatpost
    Race Face Bottom Bracket

    All for $1,400

He gets deals on his stuff so he just like to sell it quick, I am giving him a call tommorow and we are going to set up a time for me to pick it up. How amazing of a deal is that? And there is no catch, the frame is in flawless condition, no play in the linkage, dents or cracks, its a peice of art.

He gets deals on his stuff but has to sell it quick? Sounds like a damn thief to me, you might want to make sure you are not getting a stolen bike bro.

Since i just jumped on this train, i don't know the story behind this bike...how did you come about getting this...doesn't it have a $3,000 price tag on the frame alone?

remember to include quotes in posts etc...so we know who ur talking to...

and go tubless rockymt21...it makes a big difference...im just running a homemade system as my EX 729s are not UST but they work really well and are light...

i may move to 823s to run tubless later but for now while the wheels are still in tact they'll be good...
