Thanks Shiver for helping our boys. They love to hear thanks from people who appreciate the hard work and sacrifice they make every day just to say they served their country.

Whatever you think Sherpa? Yeah I disagree with alot of what the government does to but, don't be weak and ***** about our government and then also expect them to fix everything! You are obviousley still thinking that there is a difference between the republican and democratic nominees for president? The differences are very small, if any at all.

When I was in the military the last thing I wanted was a letter from some random stranger, cause then you gotta take the time to write back or just feel guilty for not writing back. So do the service-men and women a favor, and don't write em unless they want you too. Instead, send em something they can use or enjoy.

Hey shmuck, for the geneva convention to be applicable the other side must be in uniform, not play dead, and wave white flags to lure our boys in. You want us to follow this while nobody we have fought recentley has. Thats smart. Walk all over the constitution? Another load of crap that since 9/11 not a single person has been violated by the patriot act. Unless you count the illegal terrorists plotting to kill more Americans. The New World Order is BS and won't work so quit listening to NPR, Air America and that other propaganda. If you do listen to the other side also. Taxing our air is just around the corner.

So if we commit war crimes when the other side is being an @ss, we still don't get blamed?? Strafing refugee tents in the Persian Gulf war and turning bunker F1 into a red-brick (no really, glowing red with heat) furnace by dropping some napalm and turning the kids, women and old pple into red and brown silly putty are some examples of us taking advantage of the others side's lack of 'following the rules' by that logic. I'm by no means saying the Iraqi gov was good, far from it, but that we always see whatever actions we take as good and almost cast them in a holy light I find exceedingly stupid...and always, always, the refugess that come over here and piss us off with their lack of English or those same refugees that become chess pieces of the UN are the ONLY ones that suffer...the tyrannical gov't either flees to their other affluent homes living in amnesty (idi amin), or they get killed off with a quick .45 to the head by a well-meaning citizen, but the refugees always get the shortest end of the stick, something we never consider when going to war.

Its funny how people like Dr. Ishi from japan was a fawking guest to the US and his medical records were actually interesting to our gov't...focker never got even jailed for what he did to the Chinese babies just like what others did to Jewish babies. And he died a peaceful death, yeah we're fair with justice!

ps: not directed totally at ianjehn...its a general opinion so I'm just ranting against that...thanks for taking the time to present your opinion ian...enjoy a ride on us.

Big difference between war crimes and the geneva convention BS that was put in place. There are always gonna be mix ups and wrong choices in war. The thing that sucks is casualties arise. There are always innocent people that will be killed. After we pulled out of Nam 3,000,000 innocent people were slaughtered by a brutal murderer. That could happen again, we have to be in it to win it, and not fighting a PC BS war.

You can argue against or for the war as much as you want. Its really a waste of time. The fact is that America is full of right wing christian conservatives and a lot of em looooooove war. they may not like the grittyness of the war but they love the GI Joe s***. They bust a nut every time they see a night vision video of a building getting blown up by a smart bomb with all the people trying to run out in time. And it just doesn't occur to them to think about the possibility that a lot of people died in that same video. cant see them, but they did. And there is no way they are gonna take the time to imagine how they would feel if that was their brother/sister/friend/baby that died in the bombing. I am not gonna tout the line that we should have left saddam alone. But to topple a government that everyone in the country hates does not require an invasion. But that doesn't matter to a lot of americans. They don't understand the middle east, they just think islam is a bunch of angry people trying to blow each other up. and the more crusading we do the better. never mind the fact that iraq had no WMD/9-11 connection and the terrorist didn't go to iraq until we showed up. The 9/11 thing is a great example. any time they hear about iraqis or afganis being killed for no reason they just think, to hell with them, its what they get for 9/11. Yeah well that is at best an ignorant generalization and at worst it is just plain old murderous hateful racism. So lets not get into it because no one is going to change their mind. Unless of course they wanna trade places with me. you can have my ticket to iraq. don't worry about missing christmas you don't leave till feb. A taste of the reality of war will get you thinking.
Most verterans of heavy combat are not gung ho kill em all. They do their job and stay alive, and look out for each other. The vets who are all gung ho/ fight for the flag/ and charge the hill are usually the REMF's that don't fight, dont kill and don't die.

Yeah there are alot of christians that love war. Whatever crack rock you are smoking. There is only one current religion that loves war. Be careful over there. Two of my friends got back in the last six months, one was there since just after 9/11 well back and forth between there and Afganistan.

    Sherpa,

The United States Constitution and the Geneva Accords should not be mentioned in the same sentence in this context.

The Geneva convention, while important, is no more than a treaty among nations.

The United States Constitution is the very foundation of our nation.

One is orders of magnitude more important than the other.

    I love war.

It makes me feel all warm inside.

It's quite amusing to stop in here from time to time and see what clueless dumbasses have to say about political issues. I mean, Sherpa is a 15 or 16 year old kid from Arkansas. Can't even vote yet. Hilarious.

Until you've been there, done that, and can claim a t-shirt, you probably shouldn't even hazard a guess as to what goes through the mind of a soldier in combat. You couldn't even come close to understanding.

Here's a pic of me in June. 115 degrees. See how I'm still managing a smile? I'm probably thinking about riding. Well, either that or Burger King. See...that's what rocks about America. If I feel like going out and getting a Whopper King Size Meal at 2 am, I'll damned well do just that. Maybe that's why I'm smiling. I can't remember. That was my third combat tour in as many years.

    I guess I caveat B4 you read....I'm fvck!ng wasted..

No offense badfish, but whats your point? You're in Iraq (I'm assuming Iraq) to defend our right to get BK at 2am. Hardly seems like a noble cause. Its your third duty in as many years. In all seariousness, why do you do it? Not knocking you but just want to know.

Most people I talk to think the 'war' is at best a ill planned atempt to remove a unfavorable dicatator, thay don't really view it as a 'righteuos American war' and almost nobody thinks it has anything to do with 9/11. I am not a miliary person so I don't know what soldgiers go thru in combat. But I am a graduate student and I do know of many psychology students that are hired by the military to train our troops, thier expertise is in persuasion. Now why would the military need psychologists who study persuasion to train our troops?

In the end what I am saying is that America is a war hungry nation. That's what we were from the start and that is how it is today. Just look at the movies we make, the video games we play, and our policy toward foreign nations. So all you peeps to whom war "makes me feel all warm inside" I feel really bad for you. But at least you have the military to keep you out of prison.

seriously, that is the biggest ****ing problem with our counrty. people letting personal things get in the way of the important stuff. so what clinton copped a BJ, look at the mans record, he was one of the best presidents in the history of this nation. he lied under oath, but why was this even taken there? personal relations should not be a part of politics.

this election John Kerry lead the polls in every category, 'cept 'moral values'...meaning religion. for one, religion isn't moral values, things like honesty are, not pretaining to a certain church.

about a month ago i was watching the news, and there was this whole scandle about the woman droppng her towel in front of the football player. the most you saw of her was the back of her neck, yet people got all in a hissy fit about it. but what i love about it is that the next thing featured on the news was a group of military guys blowing someones head off.
so, killing is ok, but that comercial wasn't?

canadians just watch in awe. Like when the whole "nipplegate" thing went down, the news coverage up here about it broke down like this (on the CBC):

-Day1: third tier news item, they show what happened UNCENSORED (no box, no pixalation), and how the american media is going nuts.
-Next and last mention weeks later: wondering why the americans are so thouroughly obsessed with this event still, wondering why american media is saying how disgraceful it is while constantly re-showing the event over and over, and somewhat worrying that organisations (FCC and politicians) are going way overboard in reaction. Thats it.

hell, we're still wondering why the Scott Peterson deal takes up so much airtime down there for so many years.

But to be fair, our national controversies involve Don Cherry saying how european players go weak into the boards...

oh wait, we were arguing about war werent we....

This one is a blackhawk that we were getting ready to board for a mission, and pictures from the bird while in flight.

Read carefully. It wasn't a threat. More of a "challenge", I'd say. Opinions are frowned upon? Dude, why do you think I'm serving my country? I do what I do for a lot of different reasons. I certainly believe that everyone should have and express their own opinions. Shouldn't one be able to present a counterpoint? I suppose that if it differs from the opinion of the moderator that it's unallowed. Great. Freedom of speech. Whatever. As long as I'm ranting about how much Bush sucks or Canada rocks or gay marriage is perfectly acceptable or urban sprawl or how SUV's should be banned, I can speak my mind, right?

    uhh...this doesnt exactly sound like a counter-point:
Do you think you'd have the balls to talk your sh!t to my face, little boy?
thats as fine of a line you can walk here, if it was an outright threat (and not an allusion to one) you'd be out.

funny how people say that to me, despite never haven censored them at all, but mearly commented on their behavior.

    What up Badfish?
I'm glad your back safe. Thanks.
My brother's a SEAL and just went back to Iraq for the third or fourth time. I've been wanting to get him something, but I'm not sure what. I would like it to be something usefull that isn't available everyday. Does that make sense? I'm so late for Christmas, whatever I send him won't get there until who knows when. Being that you've been there can you think of anything you would have liked while in Iraq? I would love to send some hot naked chicks, but the cost of shipping would be outrages. Thanks again.

Well.....coffee is always nice. Good coffe, like Peets or Starbucks or Seattles Best. If he's a nicotine guy, that's always appreciated. As far as the naked chick thing goes, that's a tough one. Customs won't even allow "adult films", unless they are copied and labled as something else (DVD ROM type deal). I guess it all depends on what he likes. You could always splurge and get him one of these:

    http://www.realdoll.com/

I bet the shipping costs would be crazy, though. He probably wouldn't like carrying that thing around with him either as they weigh in at about 110 lbs.

    Thanks for your support!

Word. Support from another Yeti Tribe member. Ya know, I'm not even Christian, but Liberal folks tend to make numerous incorrect assumptions. For those that refer to any of us as bloodthirsty or assume that we're fighting for an unjust cause, I have some informational videos for you to download. Go here:

    http://www.ogrish.com

Download a few of the beheading videos, and watch them once. Those guys that are chopping off American, British, Korean, and Iraqi heads? Those are the guys we're fighting against. If they had it their way, they would come to your safe suburban home and do the same to you and your families. You think we're blood thirsty? Look at the videos again. I can assure you that what we're doing over there is just. Anyone that disagrees hasn't taken the time to learn the facts.

Oh, yeah...sorry drumstix. Didn't mean to go off on a rant. I'm safe at home again. Thanks for the good thought. Got back about a month ago. This is the first Christmas that I'll be able to spend with my wife and kids in three years. I can't wait!

Yeah, I don't think he's all that into porn. I was thinking, really joking about real live hot naked chicks. Coffee's a good idea. I think I'll find a bunch of differant things to send him. Maybe some stuff he could share with the other guys he's with. I'm definatly going to send him some issues of bike magazine that I have around here. He goes mountain biking in the San Diego area. I've been wanting to fly out to visit and go for a ride with him, but every time I've thought about narrowing down a time slot he's off to Iraq or some other place. He lived in spain for a long ass time before going into the SEALS and I've always regretted not visiting him there. I sure as hell can't go visit him in Iraq. So I'll have to waite for him to come back. Thanks for the coffee idea.

Sorry - no political rants here, I just read most of this thread and could not resist the urge to tell each and every one of you pompous f*ckwits that has used this thread for your own bullsh1t political grandstanding (on both sides of the fence) that you need to grow the f*ck up. The fact of the matter is that many of us have brothers, sisters, parents, friends of all political inclinations over there risking their lives on an hourly basis. I had the good fortune to chat with my brother (who is currently patrolling Baghdad) the other day, and you wouldn't believe some of the sh1t that these people are confronted with everyday. It sickens me that there are people who cannot refrain from using such a well-intentioned thread as this one as their personal pulpits. If you need to preach about how Bush is the devil - or about how well he has handled stuff over there, fine... that is what the political forum is for, take it there.

edit: This means you, you little 16 year old silver-spoon fed puke.

    Thanks for your time.

I really feel sorry for the troops there and all my best to them. But to answer to the post above: Read this and think about it.

The 14 Defining Characteristics Of Fascism

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:

    1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

    2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

    3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

    4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

    5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

    6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

    7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

    8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed
to the government's policies or actions.

    9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

    10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

    11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

    12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

    13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

    14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

The information giving to our President came form the intel department that was developed from the Clinton cabnet, Bush didnt lie to the troops, he strongly believes in what he and the troops are doing, all the post 911-pre invasion intel, WMD, came from the same people that gave Bill and Hilary the intel that launched an attack against a asprin factory.

See there? More unfounded sh!t talking. Look, little guy, watching farenheight 911 shouldn't be a basis for one's political views. At any rate, yeah, I can see how what I stated could be taken as a threat. I could also see how you would feel threatened by me. You're insignifigant. Does that bother you? That your opinion doesn't count? All of mommy and daddy's money won't buy you a voice. You'll have to wait until you're 18 for that, kiddo.

Stamped death letters? Lame. I did, however, hear that Rumsfeld has started to sign them personally. As for the rest of your questions, I don't really understand what you're trying to ask me. The casualty rate? There are less soldiers that have died in Iraq and Afghanistan than there were in about a month of the heaviest fighting in Viet Nam. Don't even get me started on the casualty rate in WW2.

I think it's a damned shame when a soldier dies. Any soldier, American, British, or Iraqi. Friendly or enemy. It doesn't matter. War is a waste of life. Whining about it won't change anything. War is, however, necessary. What you learn from the media is only half of the story. Dude, I've been THERE. I've seen what's going on. Unless you have been there, or go there and see it with your own eyes, there's no way you can comprehend the importance of Coalition Forces presence in that country.

Believe it or not, I don't agree with everything that my Commander in Chief does. I don't think the way to change things can be accomplished through running my mouth, however. Given the choice that I was in November, I picked the lesser of two evils. Face it, dude, they are both snobby rich boys that have been spoiled and had everything handed to them their entire lives. I can't relate to either of them in any way, shape or form. So, where does that leave me? Looking out for my own best interests. Supporting my family. Ensuring that my job is safe, and that there's enough money to put food on the table. Which one of the two would take better care of the military? History has shown that Republican administrations bolster the military. That being said, my choice was obvious.

Ya know what, Sherpa? I love this country. Even though I don't agree much that comes out of your yap, I love the fact that you are free to run your mouth. That's what makes America great. So, that being said, rock on with it, little guy.

I'm certain that if the two of us were to meet on a trail, and that one of us had a flat, that the other would stop to help out. At least, I know I'd do that. So I guess this makes this entire arguement pretty irrelevant, doesn't it?

That your opinion doesn't count? All of mommy and daddy's money won't buy you a voice. You'll have to wait until you're 18 for that, kiddo.
Wow, one using his military uniform and gun to make up for his own personal insignifgance. Must be small dick syndrom...

Oh and i never saw Farenheit 911 either. How about we agree to disagree.

My sympathy goes out to you badfish and to those serving in iraq…

Im in the airforce and returned from iraq in july, we can only imagine what the army/marines go thru, that’s why when we had to get you guys out of there we did everything we could and couldn’t do, it was great looking at the guys returning from camp doha, kuwait, or qatar with a smile in their face. The army guys really liked us, cause they knew we could get them out of there and away for some R&R

Thanks for all you guys are doing..

ps I should be going out again in September 05

I'll never win arguing with hippies.

Perhaps I'll just do like Kerry and concede.

Be safe over there, brother. I really didn't have an opinion on the other branches of service until my first deployment. I'm amazed at the way we all work together to get the job done. Thanks to you for your service as well. Without the Air Force, or any support guys, we would be in a world of hurt.

    Hey Shep,

I was in Eugene, Oregon after the Election. I was at a Ministry Concert. Before the show, we were this group was talking about the election. How much this and that was bad, moving to Canad...etc. They started asking people in the group who they voted for. Everyone said kerry untill they got to my friend and he said Bush. The group started turning on him and I politle said it was his choice leave him alone. Then they asked me and I said " I voted for Bush just to piss off all you effing libs. Everyone was stunned. No one said a word untill this guy chimes "well your vote didn't count" I asked why and he said Kerry won in Oregon. Well I said my vote counted because I live in California. He stated" your vote didn't count because Kerry won Cali too...and started to laugh because he made his point. Then that is when I said. That's what is wrong with you. You liberals are too stupid to figure out YOUR VOTE DIDN"T COUNT...YOU LOST THE ELECTION.

My moral of the story.....When you shep are old enough to vote then start your own politcal club, but it has no place in this post. Ok little guy"

Wow, making absolutely no sense in incoherent post. Just like Bush. I wonder if people with IQs below 100 vote for Bush and people with IQs above 100 vote Kerry/liberal.

i simply (initially) warned Badfish that threats are not acceptible here. And i'm simply pointing out the best way to keep your thread as clean as possible is to not join in the behaviour to which your asking to stop.

i have no investment here, so i'll call anyone out on a completly bone-headed post, or at the very least roll with the punches. I never said i wasent stirring....

Thank you for your service. The same dipshits that have argued against war since WW2 are still spreading the same bunch of propaganda. Noam Chomskey is a fool. I thank you and hopefully the millions of Iraqis freed by you and your brother will realize the sacrafices you boys have made in their name.

actually no one argues against US involvement in WW2, mostly just wonder why it took them so long to finally get involved...

but you are right, no one should question the need to go to war....

    Hey badfish....

thanks for you guys service too. Badfish, your posts are funny! It seems that most of the opinions on this website tend to lean to the left. I wonder if that is b/c alot of these guys posting tend to be younger, like little Sherpa. Seems many of the younger people in our country tend to lean left. Probably b/c they think reality is the news they get from MTV, the absolute truth is what came from a movie some fatass with an agenda produced, or because what some leftist professor or teacher tells them, or just peer pressure from their loser friends.

You know what happens in time Badfish? They get jobs, start paying gross amounts of taxes, get a wife, have some kids that mean everything to them and then they start thanking guys like you that are out there somewhere in the world, making us safer back home. But you will never win this argument, b/c THEY WON'T GET IT.....not until they are older, wiser and more experienced.

BTW, isn't so obvious that Zedro thinks he's a badass b/c he's the moderator? I wonder if he's just a little kid like Sherpa that gets their rocks off by the fact they seem to know a little something about mountain bikes and show it off in forums like these?

    Be safe over their guys!

Hey thanks for everything you guys do to keep us safe and free. The constitution is still valid because of men and boys like yourselves risking it all. I hope that the millions of Iraqi people you boys are over there freeing come to realize the sacrifice you all have made to free them from a brutal dictator. The western europeans are gonna be in holy hell once they realize that Russia is reverting back to a communist state. Who are they gonna come running to for help? Keep safe over there and watch your back.

Monty boy learn the facts Noam Chompskey and all his scholar friends were against that and every following war. They are isolationist loons! There are always idiots that think there is another way, and sometimes there are but alot of times there aren't. He has been wrong on most current events over the last few decades. Lets see maybe we thought the mighty French wouldn't just plant trees so the Nazis could march on over to england in the shade and slaughter them all.

Way to generalize based on one person.... I'm 16 and am certainly not liberal...

can everyone take the lame political arguements to the political forum where they are supposed to be and focus on the topic of this thread, which is supporting our troops in iraq?

why is it that everything is polarized and partisan in the US? Like if you think one way on a single issue, you're automatically cast on one side.

Hell, conservatives will call me liberal and liberals will call me conservative. Apperently a healthy mix of views makes for a dirty word...moderate (gasp!).

can everyone take the lame political arguements to the political forum where they are supposed to be and focus on the topic of this thread, which is supporting our troops in iraq?

i guess i could say the same... being young and thankfully my parents have not attempted to brainwash me into their mindset (BTW they are very liberal)... despite being 16 which some people here seem to think invalidates your opinion being young has allowed me to pick and chose whatever seems 'right' regardless of the party supporting it

it a passage of life. when you are 18 you will think you were dumb when you were 16 and when you are 21 you will think you were real stupid at 18 and when you are 25 you will think you were an idiot at 21. This lesson is called life experience.
the trick is ENJOYING YOUR LIFE EACH DAY, don't waste them away wishing for better days
