no big bear = mt. baldy for socal dh?

since big bear is closing their lift access downhill scene, it seem's the next best option is mt. baldy. anybody ridden there? how is it?
cables, bailey's and sonic sure was fun while it lasted.

As far as I know, Baldy is the only option nowadays. If the promoters of the Southridge Winter Series can be persuaded to do more racing series, then Fontana will be a year-round DH venue.

    P.S. - I heard Baldy is a really tough hill. Confirm/deny?

it was in some bike video a while back and looked rocky and steep. they showed some guy in a cross country helmet taking this gnarly tumble down a boulder field. worst crash ever.

I wouldn't ride DH on it. There is plenty of other places as good or ever better than Mt. Baldy... good luck finding real DH in Socal.

Mt Baldy is very steep...which is cool but it has loose, broken rocks everywhere

looks like weekend trips to mammoth and an extra 2 hour drive

    It's Like Mt. Waterman

Baldy is like Mt. Waterman; really steep and loose. I rode Waterman once, and it was okay, but is was nothing to write home about. I don't know that Baldy would put the time and money into making trails that would be good for DH races and riding. Also, let's not forget about the insurance issues. It costs a lot of money to insure us DHers, and that makes it very difficult for them to make a profit...

Actually, I think he is on family leave right now. You teach or are you a student? I probably shoulda asked before I wrote this...

    good sh**

    Didn't ask for a dime!
She said "No, you're wrong." I said "You got a lumpy butt." She got mad at me and yelled at me and I pissed in my pants and I never did change my pee-pants all day. I'm still sittin' in my dirty pee-pants.
