    Newly built up DH beast!

I got tired of my 2006 Demo 8 after renting a 2011 Demo because of a blown shock, so I obviously started looking for a new frame a month or two ago.

I ended up with the 2011 Demo 8 frame and I built it up from there swapping over parts from my old Demo where I could. I just got her finished and she is ready for a trip to Diablo this weekend.

    Build:
    2011 Spec Demo 8
    Fox 40
    Fox Van w/400 lb spring
    Sunline 745 handlebars
    Odi Rogue lock-ons
    Sram X-9 Shifter
Shimano Saint M810 brakes (203 mm Storm SL rotors)
    Holzfeller stem
    E-13 36 ring
    E-13 SS+ chain guide / bash guard
E-13 The Hive DH cranks (165mm)
    Crank Bros 50/50's
    Thompson seat post
    WTB Thinline seat (recovered)
    Sram X-9 derailleur
    Sram 991 Chain
    Sram 970 Cassette
Azonic Outlaw wheel in rear and DT Swiss 340 in front
All riding on 2.7 Minion DH tires

    Enjoy...

How does it pedal (the 2006 model and the new frame) over like a Big Hit or Norco A-Line?

Don't forget to get the special fork bumpers installed so your lower crown does not destroy your downtube. Fox are uniquely shaped and specialized came out with specific fork bumpers to address contact issues. The above poster referred to that but gave you no details so I wanted to make sure it came across.

But it seems you've got Storm rotor on the rear brake, only... Can you already tell anything about them? I've got Alligator WIndCutter rotors on Code '11/Elixir combo, I like them, but Storms SL seem to be better choice...

Yeah, I plan in changing the Shimano rotor up front to the Storm SL rotor in the future. I like the Storm very much though, it is lighter, seems to have a better bite then the Shimano/Roundagon/Cleansweep rotors that I have used in the past. You also can't beat it for the price anyway.

The special bumper just came in today, She is 100% complete. (For phase one anyways)

Sick bike!! Report back on your findings. I've got a demo 9 I just completely rebuilt and absolutely love. I couldn't imagine a newer demo being that much better to justify spending a couple grand more.

Sweet new ride! The grey 40 looks surprisingly pimp in front.

I was supposed to hit Diablo yesterday with my college riding crew, but apparently there was some rain or something.....

    Yeah, lame.. haha!

It weighs in at about 4 pounds less than the 2006 Demo with pretty much the same build up. I shot plenty of GoPro footage including the RedBull drop. I will post that stuff up as soon as i can.

    The 40 is a 2006 or 2007, I can't remember.

Here we go! A teaser of the Red Bull drop shot from the side which actually gives it a pretty good perspective.
