New to SD from North Shore in Vancouver

I'm moving to SD in two weeks and would love to learn about the freeride scene in SD. Right now, I ride a big DH bike that SUCKS to climb on. If SD is my new home and I'm not ready to be an XC rider, is there hope for me? What is the scene like? Should I bail on the DH bike and buy a 6" free ride instead?

Any help from the locals is super-appreciated!!!

Oh man, good luck. Since you are moving from the Shore you are going to be disappointed.

It's pretty bad. In November up in Temecula there is a shuttle assisted DH spot opening up.

ditch what ever tires you have for some low profile stuff that can handle HARD PACKED dg

All it does is rain in Vancouver. You'd hate it! Plus, I got a killer job offer; hence why I'm moving down. I guess I'll have to take up surfing to get my adrenaline fix, eh?

What is ridemonkey? Is that another site? If so, can you send the URL?

    Thanks!
