    New 2006 Kona Stinky

    Here it is: http://mbaction.com/detail.asp?id=1294

I don't particularly like the look but it may grow on me.

The downtube kinda reminds me of the Nomads upper. I'm liking it because every single Stinky I've seen look exactly the same minus the frame color.
I'm not new to this, I'm true to this

I pretty much feel the same way. Looks like they're going with the "greatly sloping top tube" style like Giant, Intense, Azonic, and such.

Hey! I ride there too! Thought that looked like some place I ride. Although that wood bridge they go over isn't 13 feet high. A lot of those wood bridges in Galby are pretty sketchy. You never know when they will give out. I wish there was more cedar up there, the Doug Fir doesn't hold up well to that stuff and breaks apart after a year or two.

Been riding up there for some time and still haven't seen everything. Great place to test a bike, although lacking in huge "North Shore style" jumps.

You can almost see my buddy's house near the water in that one photo.

I think it looks pretty nice but I don't like change just for the sake of change(if it's better than that will be great)

I have a 2000.5 stinkyfive and I really think they are best
frame for that price range ever..period(yes better than the bullits

I dropped mined every week for years good size drops too..I ripped a fork right off the frame leaving just the steerer tube in my headtube(no damage to my frame)... I guess my point is they are great frames and the new version is gonna have some large shoe's to fill

im sure it will sell well, but i think it takes away the, you could almost say, "the burlyness", the toughness look of the stinky line.

I like the frame, something different. But is that whats on it stock,or is that just how that guy had it setup? If thats the bike it looks more like a long travel trail bike then a Free Ride rig. (clipless pedals, seat, 6inch rear disc). Just my 2 cents.

yes, i tend to agree that it looks like shyt. i have liked almost all of konas bikes, but this one is ugly. and i dont like the chromoly look. (sp) But they wouldnt of started producing it if other people didnt like it, so someone will buy it. oh well.

    I really donīt like it

Ok, Im a Kona fan , a real one... I had an kona scrap 03, really nice bike, then I bought a santacruzbullit really cheap, and Im still get it, and I was planning to buy a stinky or coiler the next year (bcose I persive kona is a cool company) , but if the stinkies are like this, im going to think twice. I dont like not to have the kona logo and not to have the kona out of bounds geometry that most of us loves. But the time will tell if this is a more eficient frame or it is just some useless change.

I agree 100%. Looks like that should be a coiler. It lost it's freeride, burly look. I hate it.

Kona isn't producing them with the cro-moly look. When they come out in production they will be painted to match the forests or northern washington...As kona put it.
Konas a great company. I ride an 05 stinky-D and love it. Hope the new one turns out great!

New singlecrowns rival 'most' dual crowns.

If you're trying to look cooler, I suppose a dual crown makes bikes look like they're burlier. However, if folks are looking for a single crown fork that can handle stuff that dual crown's can handle, the 66 is more than capable, as I can attest. It probably is only behind the 888, Dorado, Avy and Shiver for sheer burliness. It easily beats the pants off my Super T as far as functionality, small bump compliance and big bump absorption. I've gone bigger on it than I ever did on the Super T, it handles steeps great and it floats on fast descents.

I think the updated Stinky looks good, imo. More importantly though.....if the new design works better than the current design, they'll have a winner regardless of what people think of the look. Let's face it, the long-standing design is pretty utilitarian in it's purpose (kinda like the bike itself), but it could certainly use a facelift. I don't think Kona is changing this just for change-sake, so I'm gonna assume that the new design will pedal better and will rock on the descents.

    Chers,
    EB

P.S. the rock drop on the first pic is on Cedar Dust, the ladder that they say is 13 feet up is across a ravine on Dan's trail (not sure it's that far of a drop though) and the arcing log to the "Scorpion" is new on Shaun's Aneurysm. The last pic of him riding the log across the creek is towards the bottom near the Padden side of Galby, but can't remember that name.
