    Need Help!

I just rediscovered mountain biking again, thanks to my uncle who used to ride a lot before he went back to golf (yawn).

He then let me use his rather old Giant XtC. The bike is very good for a returnee like me, but I want to go the Downhill route. I am thinking of switching the frame, and replacing the stem, and placing Maxxis Mofo DH 2.35s on the bike. Probably I will use it for Super D.

Then, after I graduate and get a job, I'll get a proper DH bike.

Question: What frame shall I get? I am VERY short on cash, and most likely I am going the Freeride hardtail type. Any suggestions on the frame?

Q2: does a Freeride hardtail frame have different strength characteristics than a jump bike frame?

What do you think of the brand Da Bomb? It's pretty common on bike shops where I'm from.

I'm just planning for the future, and I need some help on deciding what to get.

I am riding as much as I can still go, just as you said... Thanks, Matey.

7point3 for the win! I dont think I could have spent my money better. Its a hardcore FR bike but at the same time it can handle DH it might not be as plush as say 8"-10" DH bike. I'll get back to you in a month or two after my first DH race on the 7point. So far its a great bike. The only upgrade(s) that I can think of are a new fork, and rear shox. But for know they are working out just wonderfuly.

I just got a DJ frame (a GT Chucker) to replace my XtC, so that I could finally go some DH, and very much abuse it. I'm still running 1.95s though, and the narrow XC-style handlebars are quite a handful, especially at slow speeds.

Question: What should I get first? Handlebars or tires? (planning to get a World Force/Azonic or an Answer handlebar: If bars; recommend size, for tires: Maxxis Minion DHR and DHF 2.5s)

    What do you think?
