my buddy is getting a new bike, he has some questions...

my buddy is in need of a new bike, he was looking used but he decided to go with new. he does a whole bunch of downhill and dirtjumps(he likes to dj big bikes for some reason). he had a rm switch s1, and now he has an azonic saber. both frames are broken. he is only considering bikes with 8 or more inches of travel. currently he is looking at the 2007 specialized bighit III and the 2006 giant faith 1. he was also talking to duncan [riffle] and duncan said he would sell him his newest chumba f4 he had before he went to ironhorse, even though it can't really be jumped or anything he was still sort of considering it. which of these bikes would be better or does anyone have any other suggestions (he can spend $3000). thanks a whole bunch...

Get that kid on a hardtail!

The faith and BH are both pretty beefy bikes. both also have 7" of travel I think. not totally sure though.

I've heard a lot of good stuff about the giant faith. bighits have been dependable.

crappy thing, is WHEN he crashes, only more bike is going to get busted up.

Hey! im actually considering all bikes with mixed freeride and dirt jump abilites, but with enough travel to handle dh every once and a while. pedalability is slightly important, but im obviously not looking for a xc bike. 8 in is fine, and reasonable components are a must. double crown fork, reasonable weight, and high front end are all the only other constraints. do work! ive been looking for a bike like this for $3000 for a year, now i need your help. Hep me!

In that case I would suggest he looks at the 2007 specialized sick... and the 2006 giant sick... . He should also look at the Duncan sick... and the newest chumba sick... possibly even the ironhorse sick...

too much money and no dc fork or chainguide. he reallt doesn't want to have to change much, except on the faith because it is realitivily cheap...

Dude get the faith....If you are not very concern about weight...is your best bet.....

I haven't see a cracked faith frame in the entire world.....And there where a lot of bad ass BC freeriders using them for SICK airs the last couple of seasons......Check "stripped" dvd and "CKD (bits3)" for some faith action and convince ya rself!!!
Plus you get a system with good pedaling plattform and just incrasing preload, propedal and air in the shock and adding air to stiffen the fork you will get a DJ capable bike.

    good luck with your purchase......
